Default New xA owner woe: paint chip on antenna?!

Hi everybody,
I just bought my xA a few weeks ago. Today I noticed a sizable paint chip on the base of antenna. I include some photos here. I'm not sure if it's a real paint chip or by design, but it bothers me A LOT... If it is a paint chip, can anybody give me some advice on how to fix it? Should I take it back to the dealer?

Speaking of antenna, do I need to take it apart when I wash it or go to one of those automatic car wash places? It doesn't look like it was built to be taken apart though .

Thanks.

it unscrews fromt that base point where the chip is. so not so sure about what you can do with the chip more than likely just touch up paint should work.

I have the same thing. . . but it was just the clear coat layer around the antenna base. It looks like yours is significantly deeper.

I don't know if you guys actually even bothered to look at the pics, but the paint damage is on the BASE of the antenna. An S2000 antenna only replaces the antenna mast and not the base.

The most common cause for paint damage though is over tightening the antenna

So this really is a defect. Hmm... I think I'm going to take it back to the dealer and _____ until they replace it. I'm not even tall enough to reach the anntenna, there is just no way I could somehow caused the chip without knowing.

Thanks everybody.

Edit to add: almost fell of my chair laughing when I saw this board replace the B word i wrote with "biscuit" . Sorry board.

Lol~ Gotta love that censorship!

Taking out the base is a biscuit though =p You have to take out the interior roof lining to access the screws that hold it in place. If the dealer won't cut any slack, you can always use a sharpie and write over the mark.

Is it really that complicated? I would hate to go through all that whenever I have my car washed. How do you guys wash your car then?

in all honesty, touch up paint would do fine.

Like they said, touch-free wash in the winter months or a hurry, hand wash when it's warm - you'll be fine.

My 06' Xa came with the same exact antenna base problem. I like the permanent sharpie idea myself.
