So, umm... Why Does The Paint On Scions Suck...???

I think that the paint problems extend into the Toyota line also. We also have a Siienna. Paid $38K for it, and the paint seems very thin. It's dark blue (Stratosphere Mica), and the blue color scratches off very easily. On the other hand, my 2000 Audi A4's paint is very durable.
I wonder if these paint issues extend into the Lexus line. Probably not!

the paint is so bad because you're supposed to re-paint them the way you would like it, that's the whole point behind these cars being customizable right? Now if only they still used lead paint... that stuff never gave up, you could eat it and it would still be colored when it came out.

well chips no becuase "you" caused them... but if it peels then yes. If there is "sh*t" in the paint then take it in and have them look at it. I have my grill chip and then peeled from washing with with a pressure washer (coin opp car wash) soo take it in that is what the 60 month if for paint and corrosion....

Im not sure about toyota's but mine is polar white, and the chips show black primer and the polar white paint is paper thin. A real dissapointment from one of the top auto makers. I could settle for out of place drink holder, but crappie paint? Is it just me?

I agree crappy paint shouldn't be acceptable. I just wonder if Scion uniquely has crappy paint or whether most new cars (including Toyotas and Hondas) have crappy paint too. I remember reading something about environmental rules changing how cars are painted. Maybe alot of new cars suffer.
Then again, maybe Scions use the same paint as other Toyotas but they just don't apply the paint as well and they really are worse than others.
