Please note that I am referring to the '06 xA steering wheel with audio controls.

Yes kdepew, the tC wheel with audio controls fits the '06 xA with audio controls.

The install was a breeze. I took my time to make sure that I didn't miss anything, but I could swap one out now in about 5-10 mins at most. The silver plastic pieces are held on by one screw each and some plastic clips. You do have to remove the airbag. It is only help on by two T-30 torx screws on either side. There will be two power leads that you must unclip and a ground wire on the back side of the airbag.

Basically follow these instructions below and you'll be fine.

I didn't completely remove the wheel mounting nut until the steering wheel popped loose. I've got to line up my steering wheel this weekend, but other than that it's easy.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

I purchased my xA with the optional grey/silver leather wheel. However, it isn't quite centered. Everyone suggested I take it in to have the toe adjusted (alignment). I did, but the dealer's alignment machine was busted so I have to take it back.

LeroyJMC,

Are you saying that there is a bolt which allows centering the steering wheel? Maybe I should ask the dealer to do that. Maybe when they installed the leather steering wheel they just didn't center it properly and the toe is fine.

It not being centered has nothing to do with your alignment, unless the car is pulling to one side.

It sounds like the dealership did not center the wheel.

Like dugzilla said, it's not going to be your alignment unless your car is pulling to one side or the tires are wearing in a funny pattern on you.

There isn't a single bolt that adjust your steering wheel. It has to be adjusted under the car in your steering components.

Straight up, if the dealer installed your optional grey/silver leather steering wheel then let them fix it. Tell them that they did not center the steering wheel after they installed it. Tell them that when you are driving straight your steering wheel is slightly turned to the left/right, whichever it may be.

OK thanks. The steering wheel was dealer installed when purchasing the car (but not by the dealer I take it to for service). I bought the car in another state because I didn't want holes cut into my front bumper for the license plate bracket. My local dealer couldn't get one that way.

It is under warranty and I'll mention to them that it probably isn't an alignment problem and that others who have installed steering wheels themselves said it just needs something adjusted under the car. The car doesn't pull at all. The wheel just isn't straight when I drive straight.

I doesn't need anything adjusted under the car, the wheel just didn't get put on straight. All they have to do is pull the steering wheel off and move it over a notch or two on the splines on the shaft the steering wheel mounts on. It should only take 15 min or so.

I know it can be done, but does anyone know the cost of getting the stock wheel wrapped in leather by an upholstry shop?

Not cheap, I priced having my armrest re-covered in leather and the quote was like $450!! It would be a lot harder to cover a steering wheel, but less leather.

Look on eBay for the stock tC steering wheel. It comes wrapped in leather and I'm sure will be cheaper than having it done by an upholstry shop.

Here's one

Another one

If I ever have the spare cash I'm going to ****** one up to put on my xA.

I didn't take pics, but if you've seen a tc it's the same one.

Fits perfectly.

I think I my have jumped on a deal too quick. Picked up an '07 tC leather wheel to put into my 04 xA (no radio controls).

It's probably not going to fit. This may show up fo sale shortly. Stay tuned.

You're correct chuck. It will NOT fit your 04xA. Though you could try a conversion like this post below. Wonder if that would work on the xA's also?

I still haven't straightened up my wheel...been too busy. Gonna give the one spline a try before I mess under the car. I'm thinking that mine may not be off enough that a spline will straighten it up, but deffinitely gonna give it a try when time permits.
