I love mine, it has been a great car. My mother has an auto xB, and I have a 5 speed xA, and I can say with more than a little bit of certainty, to get the 5-speed model. The engine has more than enough punch to make the car fun, but the auto waters it down too much for my liking.

How many mpg do you get, so you think I should get the stick?

If I drive normally on the highway, I get a good 38-39mpg with the A/C on at about 70-75 MPH. In the city, I get anywhere from 30-33, driving normally. I have seen the mileage dip to 27 in the city, but I was driving some backroads quickly, with a lot of gear changing and high revs.

I love the stickshift in my car, it is a little notchy (they are in all Scions) but it feels good, and you know what gear you are in. I would highly recommend it over the auto, it is a very easy to drive stick, and the clutch is nice and smooth.

stick = awesome. Might look into getting an intake as well, maybe lowering springs if you want it to look and handle better.

I took out the stock intake snorkel, and replaced it with a tube going to the fender (at the same height as the headlight, no water ingestion), it makes more noise, and has a bit more airflow at higher RPM.

I also have the TRD springs and a lightweight 15x6.5 inch wheel and better tire combo. The car handles pretty well with the springs alone, but the better tires and wider wheels help.

It is a nice car all around, saves gas, spacious for the size and you can do a lot to it since the price is not that bad. I've had 3 and currently own two and i do not regret spending the money. You will like it if you are into accessories and stuff.
Good luck

I've had my xA almost 5 months, and it has truely given me more smiles per mile than anything I've had since I was sixteen. (I had a new 1972 VW when I was sixteen; another fun car). When you look at the unique styling, interior room, standard features, fuel economy, Toyota quality, and lots of happy SL owners, and last, but not least, a starting price around 13,500.00,need I say more...........

I love my xA RS1.0 Almost paid for, so I can start the mods . I've had it for 1 1/2 years so far and no trouble. I average about 34-36 mpg. Wish it was better though

Put lightweight wheels (15x6.5) and a CAI and youll be in the 36-40 range no problems.
