I found myself a bit put-off by the lack of factory mudflaps for the front of my xA, so I risked 30.00, and bought a set of rears with the intent of re-engineering them. All I needed was a razor knife, some white paintable RTV, and a couple of self tapping screws. The curvature of the molded part ended up being close, I just kind of fit ,cut, fit ,cut, etc. Before final fit, and screws, put small amount of RTV in molded part, fit in place, screw in place, and wipe excess RTV off. Finally, there is a gap on the inside between the mudflap and fender liner, fill with RTV. I ended up using stainless screws, I get them at work, so put a little dab of paintable RTV on when done. Let dry 24hrs., all the while driveable, then spray with flat black paint. Looks factory to me.

The Front mudflaps are the one thing that was a negative thing during my xA purchase.
I wanted mudflaps and they said the Scion only has rear ones available -for 50 bux.

They refused to throw them in so I had to pay for them. THey sent the bill for them BEFORE they sent the title...That hinda p**** me off.

I went to a TidyCar dealer and he said front mudflaps? NO problem..He installed the front ones for about 20 bux.

Has anybody modded the rear ones to fit the front? I wonder if that could be done.

Took a few pics the other day, but since I covered the whole deal with flat black spray paint, they didn't come out very well. Will try again in a few days when the rain stops, but all in all is very easy to modify the rear ones.

 

Ok, I took scioncliff's advice and bought a set of rear splash guards for the front. For $25...what the heck....no loss if they don't work.

It's amazing how close they are. I just trimmed a couple areas on the inside, toward the bottom, and BOOM there you go. The bottom rocker panel is plastic, so I drilled some small pilot holes and used the mounting screws that came with the kit. I also added one of my own screws to secure the very bottom...under the rocker panel. To finish it off, I put a small amount of black silicon to cover up a little bit of the white color between the splash guard and the fender liner. No painting necessary.

They look like they should be there....right from the factory.

Sorry, working out of State now, cant post pics, but the pics posted by this guy from Lexington look the same as my car. Go ahead and buy the rear flaps, take the front wheels off,
and fit them, it will soon be very evident what and where you need to trim, its really easy and they end up looking factory, good job

xA_Factor, you did a really good job with those front mudflaps. I don't know why they don't just make a factory front kit, but yours pretty much looks factory.

Do you have any pictures of your whole car? Those ASA wheels are the ones I'm considering getting. Do you like them?
