Its never a good idea to run a car dry or low. Many cars the fuel in the tank is used to keep the pump cool so really you should refil when it reaches 3/4 low.

Myself, since I drive 21 miles a day, 10 dollars or 3 gallons of gas gives me a reading of half a tank. Why carry around all that dead weight when if you are like me you stop at a gas station to buy coffee as is?

With my stock setup, I get anywhere from 32 as my worst tank to 46.8 as my best tank in regards to mpg. 32 aint bad for squealing tires, going 85 down the interstate and idling in traffic, stop and go plus waiting at a drive through with engine running.

PS, I just read an article on wired magazine that the model t got 25mpg. I bet if we can get a higher 5th gear the xa can get better fuel economy. I met a VA Tech guy at the VA State Fair a few months ago and talked to them about the hybrid suv they had on display. He ran the numbers and said the xa would need about 10mp to maintain highway speeds when you factor wind, rolling resistance on a level surface. He said a ford focus was 13hp.

this has probably been posted earlier, but I can't read the entire post...

my gauge takes about 200 miles to get to 1/2 & another 100 to turn on the gas light

that's 10 gallons.

of course that's nowhere near the suggested mileage (no, I drive nice) but that's for another post...

People often ask me :what's my modifications?
Nitrogen in my tires :at 38 psi (not the standard 29-30 psi as Toyota suggest)
I also have some air caps that I can always look at the nitrogen pressure in my tires .I check them often like a hawk.So far I have not had to refill the Nitrogen. It has stayed a constant 38 psi for over a year and a half now.
A tornado, magnetic, and platinum fuel saver devices on my car.
Thanks to a labrador hitting the driver's front side of the car it has opened a whole in the front placed there by Scion which I have extended the air duct system with a air duct from another make/model car going around the radiator to the air duct sucking more air into the engine.I really don't know how this effects the car since,I have placed it on recently but ,I achieve now in the vicinity of 37-43 MPG.This is my little experiment and I will report back to you on that shortly.

Default Since ,I have moved to Nashville

I average 34 M.P.G. roughly going between the speeds of 30-70 M.P.H..Gas prices are continuing to climb. It's getting on the absurd!!!Nearing $4.00 here at $3.69 on average.I hope it ain't so but, others have predicted $5.00 gas by fall.I hope they are wrong but,the way it's going now.We will need 70 MPG cars just to survive!

Default Since being in Nashville I'm doing 80/20% CTY/HWY

Since being in Nashville I'm doing 80/20% CTY/HWY .Though I'm still getting 34 MPG .I'm thinking about doing 2 test that might get me at least in the 35-38 MPG range .I'm putting in 6 gallons of gas and dividing it on my range till the gaslight blinks on .I get anywhere from 203-208 miles.I've gone 54K on my 1.5 liter motor.

Regardless of the fuel capacity, I like to keep mines full as gas keeps to climb. My main beef is that sometimes half a tank according to my meter takes 4-5 gallons to fill upat the pump where the pump clicks off 3 times, other times 7-8 gallons. Sometimes I get 192-267 miles at the half way mark depending on if I need to fill up with 4-5 or 7-8 gallons. Go figure .
