Default xA RS 2.0 Interior lighting

To all of you xA RS 2.0 owners,

I got into a bit of a heated discussion regarding the interior lighting with some of the board members. I told them that when you get a 2.0, it should have cup holder illumination along with under dash AND rear seat lighting. I know a lot of you guys did not get everything when you got your cars. Since no one was willing to believe me, I asked SCION and this is their reply..........

Thank you for contacting Scion.

Yes, the interior LED lighting for the RS 2.0 xA includes under dash lighting, rear under seat lighting, and cup holder illumination.

..........I know a lot of you DID NOT get what you should have, but this gives you some real ground to go to the dealer with and get all of your lighting. When I got my car, I did not get the cup holder lighting. They admitted I was right and took care of me.

Stand your ground and get some type of concession.

Good Luck,

That's great man. Yeah, I'm going to get my RS2 this week. I did my research ahead of time. My dealer said it doesn't come with the cup holder illumination, but I showed him otherwise. They admitted their mistake.

Just remember everyone, do your research ahead of time and it IS possible that you know more than the dealer.

Although I thinks it's great you got some email from scion. No where on their site does it say behind the front seats. No where does it show a photo of such. One email does not mean we all got hosed.

I find it strange you and only you after complaining got behind the seat illumination. The poll that was on the site was like 9 No 1 yes....the yes being john I'm happy for you, and think you got a bonus , not the rule though.

Squishy,

As far as being hosed goes, your refusal to admit you're wrong, and getting others to believe you is hosing them more than anything.

I guess you know more than Scion. My hat is off to you!

I don't claim to know more, show me one place on their site it shows behind the seat or says it? That's all I'm asking, it's pretty simple. Oh and the poll was like 9 NO to your 1 YES...that's pretty odd if you ask me. My guess is, no other RS 2 has the behind the seat illumination

Please read this article...

http://cars.ign.com/articles/610/610700p1.html

Please take note to the part with the lighting information. This obviousely shows that I don't have the only car with the lighting under the seats. So at least we now know there are 2....hmmmm.

So I guess when my Scion Dealer said it was supposed to have the rear lighting...they were wrong.

When the Scion dealer called to get warranty approval to install the rear lighting and the Scion factory said the car should have it....the Factory was wrong.

I guess the Scion Factory's e-mail response to the specific question about rear seat lighting saying it should have the rear lighting was wrong.

I guess the xA 2.0 used in the review was built wrong by the factory as well.

Just because the web site doesn't mention that the car has a windshield doesn't mean it shouldn't be there.

However I am not going to spend any more time debating this, I got what I paid for..... and your happy, that's what counts.

Have a nice day!

Heck, it's worth a shot! What's the worst that could happen? You don't get an interior lighting upgrade for free? Chances are that your car will be in the shop sometime or other, it doesn't hurt to ask!

Thanks for posting that letter from the Scion factory and doing some legwork on this!

Hey John, I read the article at http://cars.ign.com/articles/610/610700p1.html
I see it does mention lighting under dash and the seats but nothing about the cup holder lighting.
Since I’ve ready so much confusion over the lighting issue it may just be a matter of luck?
It very well could be Scion started out with the lighting under the dash and seats and changed early production to front lighting and cup holders? Then again I see others on the board that have standard cruise control while others do not. I too sent an email to Scion and received almost the same form letter back informing me that there should not be rear seat lighting. Maybe it’s a location thing? I have no idea. I stuck my head under the rear seats and I don’t see anything pre-wired. Obviously I’ve added nothing to help this debate. Sorry.

I don't mean to be a skeptic, but I'd need to talk to someone from Scion directly on this... Whoever that was from Scion that e-mailed you basically sent you a link that confirms nothing. That makes no sense. I still have seen no official documentation from Scion regarding this.

I'll check with my dealership again, but if so many of these cars are being released without the right equipment one would think that there would be an official release on this from Scion about it.

No lissy, you have added to a better understanding of the issue. I personally do appreciate the input. It would seem that there is definitely a lot of confusion from Scion as well. None the less, I would definitely give it a shot. ...it worked for me and for a few other guys from what I've gathered.

Please keep in mind, I'm just trying to help here. I had my lighting well before starting this thread and just want to see the fellow members get everything they can.

You probably wouldn't see anything pre-wired under the seats since believe it or not, ALL of the interior lighting, cupholder illumination, the spoiler, foglights, etc is actually put on at the port , at least according to the people at the port that I talked to, so I guess you would be at the mercy of whoever is resposible for installing the options there. Since it is not stated clearly anywhere, I can see where there would be all kinds of conflicting info.

Hey, maybe we can tell them it should also have had the Million dollar bill installed in the glove box!

Good Luck,
Johncal

Thanks John,

I thought I'd try another e-mail and see if I ask the same question twice and get two different answers. Scions reply pasted below:

Lissy,

I just e-mailed Scion back with my referenced e-mail and also mentioned your reference number and that you were told the RS 2.0 did not come with the under seat lighting.

It will sure be interesting to see Scion's response explaining how they could give us two different answers. I asked them if they could produce a document or specification sheet to back up either claim. I can't wait to see this. Either way I would hope it would clarify things for others.

I would certainly say at this point that no one here myself included can actually give a definitive answer to this question at this time. If I came off too strong to anyone here and offended them, I apologize.

As I said, I e-mailed Scion about the conflicting responses about the under seat lighting.

HERE IS MY INQUIRY

As you know, I am sorry to keep asking about this, but someone else just asked Scion the same question (inquiry # LTK2501892888x) regarding the under seat lighting on the RS 2.0’s and they were told it did not come with the cars. Is there some type of official document or specification sheet that can further clarify this issue? It would most certainly seem that half of the RS 2.0’s cars have it and half do not because I’ve even seen it mentioned in a couple of magazine and internet reviews but a lot of people on the Scionlife.com board say they do not have it.

Thanks,

John

HERE IS THEIR RESPONSE

Thank you for contacting Scion.

We apologize for any confusion, but in efforts to answer your question the release 2.0 xA should come with LED lighting kit which includes dash lighting, rear seat lighting and a cup holder illumination. JC, Can you please take pictures of your rear seat lighting. I see a number of pictures on the forum of your RS 2.0 Front lighting, Badge placement, dashboard, grill lighting, seats, wheels/tires the exterior of your car, sport pedals, shifter ****, your neighbors mini-van etc. But after all this talk over lighting no pictures yet of your rear lighting. You still appear to be the only one that has rear seat lighting. It certainly does look like that you received a gift from your dealership when the cup holder lighting was missed when you received your car.
I took notice that BakerRage and Lissy both had submitted inquires to Scion and both received replies back from Scion with reference numbers. Your Scion replies don't have reference numbers. I'd like to get on the horn (phone) and refer to your reference number when I speak with Scion over the rear lighting. If it's yes, all RS 2.0's should have rear lighting great. If it's no great. Just one simple answer.
BTW -- The stealership I bought my RS 2.0 at had five 2.0's just come in the day I picked up my plates. Not a single one had rear lighting and YES it was a like pulling a loaded bus up hill to get them to let me look and the situation created something for them to talk about with each other after I left I'm sure.
Front and cup holder lighting only and the sales guy at the stealership said that rear lighting was not a standard option on the RS 2.0's. For extra they said I could purchase the whole kit. So if you would not mind post or PM me your two reference numbers from Scion and let me see some pictures or your rear lighting and I'll get to the bottom of this once and for all. Thanks
