xA shoots a "rooster tail" in the snow.
We just had our first "real" snow for this winter two days ago. As I was driving home from work, the main roads had been plowed, so I didn't notice anything strange. BUT, when I got on the residential streets leading back into the development where we live, there was a pretty good blanket of snow still on the roads. As I was driving down one of those streets at about 20 MPH, I looked in my rearview mirror. My xA was shooting these two really cool rooster tails! It was pretty funny. I've never had a car or truck do that, because most vehicles have more body behind the rear wheels which would block it. But the xA has almost no car behind the back tires. Plus, my new Falken Ziex ZE-512 all season tires really seem to grip well so they were throwing it like crazy. It looked like the spray from the back of a ski boat.

I've noticed this spray kick as well -- happens on almost all hatches w/o rear mudgards as well as anything truck/tractor w/o flaps. The air just vortexes off the sharp drop rear, drops into a roll right behind the hatch, and circulates things round-and-round.
(Don't know if a spoiler would help better either....?)
You can drive w/ hardly a raindrop, but just because the streets are wet, the whole rear of the xA hatch will get sprayed with water to the point where you have to clear it with the wipers quite rapidly.
Already thinking maybe I should get mudflaps on the rear -- esp. since even on dry days, the rear is the first part of the car to get covered in a layer of dust.
Sigh..... the worst thing about getting a white xA...dusty rear!.. (rest of the car is nice!)
