xB owner thinking of switching to xA.
So is there anybody out there with some feedback on switching over to an xA from an xB????
I've got my eye on an RS3 5 speed. I can trade my 06 xB in on it. No numbers yet, still thinking about it. There are only 2 5 speed rses available and they are on Oahu. I'm in Maui...
I've had my box for three months and I'm realising I should have got an xA... because I really want a car. So... why should I get an xA over an xB...
talk to me xA owners...

The xA is the version you get if you don't like the way the xB looks. In all honesty, there isn't that much of a difference. In fact, the xB has a ton more room and is more practical. The quality on the xA does seem a bit better, especially on the doors. But again, it's not that big of a difference.
Having owned an xA, I kicked myself many a time for not getting an xB (once the look of the xB grew on me). Initially, I felt they were ugly. Yeah, there are some other differences, but it's not that big of a deal. All I can say is that the xA's rear seat is TINY compared to the xB. And there's a big difference up front too!

Never have an xB...but I always regret having an xA, just something about the way it looks that bugs me...off course after spent like extra $3000 on new TRD wheels, 2" lowering w/ all brand new suspension parts, vented fenders and matched paint job, rear brake disc conversion and an RS1 grille. That's when the xA really grow on me. But straight off the dealer's lot I wouldn't ____ on it even if it's on fire.
I bought it for fuel economy but turn out to be quite a head turner.

There's no question that the xA is a sweet car, but it seems that none of you read his post. He wants to justify trading in his xB for an xA. Do you guys REALLY think it worth it?
Sure, why not? If he likes the xA design more. Sounds like he doesn't need all that extra space, either. There have been plenty of people who have gone from xB to xA, and likewise xA to xB.
The question is, when the new more powerful xB or xD come out, are you going to be going through this again?

EDIT.... just noticed your from Hawaii >> isn't gas there more expensive then the rest of the USA ?? .... even a bigger reason to make the move to a better mpg vehicle
If you don't need the extra room, I'd say get the xA....the xB is a nice ride, but for a vehicle meant to be unique, it sure has a lot of followers...the xA, or the car Scion forgot, is much more of a head turner.
An xA is cheaper, lighter and more fun to drive than an xB.

Wait, what's the mpg of the xB? I thought it was like a 1 mpg difference. And 100lbs is not a huge difference. ygr increases in performance comes NOT from the weight difference, but from the shorter wheelbase. It allows for faster turn in and better steering response.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the xA. But the financial loss on a trade is quite considerable. And in the end, it is a very similar car in many respects. Is it worth wasting $5K, when you could just spend it on mods?

It doesn't matter, the moment a vehicle leaves the dealer lot is when depreciation guys the hardest. It just seems like such a waste of money, unless you are LOADED.
Also 100lbs weight difference is like light and day for MPG... and overall performance, an xA is more aerodynamic then a BOX, less height makes it more sturdier on the road and LESS top heavy giving it the better advantage in turns
oh yeah and both platforms are the same with a few tiny exceptions..... the whole subframe is the same on the box as it is on the egg....

Every car has its pros + cons. The trick is to minimize the cons as much as possible. As with most scions, what I really liked about the xA is: low cost(retail purchase price) , good gas milage(mpg) , fun to drive, versital to some extent in that its a hatchback- you can load stuff up in the back + its a 4 door which is good for carting several other people around, good safety(my rig has side curtain air-bags)and the fact that its a Toyota in disguse = reliability/bomb-proof. Cons: well, its not some 100 hp per 1 liter of engine size sports car - but then again those cars tend to be in the mid- 20's mpg for gas (ex. S2000)
