Got an 05 xa 1.6liter automatic. First off the car has 50,000 miles on it and it already wont shift into overdrive. its my gf car and she doesn't beat on it. she was dealing with the non overdrive for a while and now every time you stop at a redlight it stalls. so you have to put it into neutral to keep it running while stopped and then give a little rev and shift into D when you get the green. I'm thinking torqu converter for the stalling even though there is no reason a converter should go at 50,000 miles unless its defective I dont know why the 4th gear solenoid isn't engaging but I'm guessing faulty wiring cause again, solenoids just don't go bad that fast. has anyone else seen these problems? I've never been much into the toyota/scion scene but its been a great car until it hit 50k, and its all gone downhill from there. ohh, and the tranny fluid is red, not burnt. I'm pretty handy with a car and i've checked a lot of the preliminary stuff but i'm open to ideas of any kind. Last resort is to drop the tranny and check the wiring and TCM and have a look for myself.
