Default 05 xB Auto Trans Button stuck - Won't Shift

Hi all,

I have basically stock 2005 Scion xB Automatic Transmission with 87K and the other day it was tough to get into Park, and a few days later
(and some minor manipulations) I can drive and everything is fine so long as I 'park' in Neutral.

I cannot press the button hard enough that the car will enter Park (or L gear).

The transmission runs fine, I'm still getting like 33-36mpg's, just cant hit Park.

Please give me any ideas or suggestions you might have.

Thanks for the help!!!

There should be some screws to take the head of the shifter apart. I'd start taking it apart and look for broken plastic, or clean it out if theres a ton of gunk in there.

I found out what seems to be the issue. Looks like the Shifter Button has a broken wing tab, and that is letting the button move upwards instead of the catch moving down past the stops to let me into/out of Park.
