I have had lights come on and not go off, the cruise stopped working and then would engage without warning - gas mileage sank. Any ideas? ANyone else have these problems? Love the car, but starting to worry -I bought Toyota for dependability and mileage.

Since cruise control is not a Toyota option--it is an aftermarket add on--it is hard to blame Toyota. Dealers put them on and warrant them--but they are not Toyota parts.

even so
It was part of the car I bought, so by the rule of agency, it's theirs! The lights and gas mileage are "standard" though and while when I drove the car home from the dealership I got 34.5 mpg, during a trip to Atlanta a couple weeks ago I got more like 27.

I have never gotten less than 30 MPG. Is it and auto or stick. I have heard the autos sometimes get a little less. How many miles--you might check your air filter and give it a couple of tanks of better gas to see if that helps.

i'd try that, but it's only been about 14k miles since I bought it and an air filter should last alot longer. It's had 2 oil changes and has he same equipment and is getting the same 'cheap' gas from the time it got 34.5. I just can't figure it and really want my good mileage back!

I put a K&N Air Filter on mine at about 500 miles and I noticed a little better gas mileage. It all depends on your driving habits, climate, and quality of gas. Here in Houston, they put 10% Ethanol in our gas and my mileage has decreased a little, but I pretty much get 30 - 34mpg and that is driving mostly 70 on the freeway with an automatic.
As far as the cruise, I would take it into the dealership before your warranty runs out.

at 14K miles, i'm assuming you're still under warranty... take it in and have them take a look... that's what warranties are for... if they sold it to you with the cruise control they should cover that too...
as far as milage, this is an on going issue with people getting all kinds of different milage averages (mid 20's to as much as 40 mpg)... but as xbfemme mentioned, there are too many variables that affect the milage from one car to the next...
