I dunno, but its the first one I've seen advertised for the '06 models. I'm getting impatient waiting for some of the better known brands. This might be an option for me. Thanks

Did you have a problem with the coupler not eing the correct size for the tubing that connects to the throttle body?

what is the benefit of the longer tubing? Isn't it more metal to heat soak, and warm the air entering the engine?

No. . . it's to go from a short ram to a cold air intake. One draws colder air, which is denser, which means more power. The other has less restriction, which means free-er flowing, which usually means more power, but in this case means hotter, but less chance of sucking in water.

Search for CAI and short ram. . . this topic has been extensively covered.

masafina, did yours come with directions? How long did it take to get to you? How much did you have to remove to get this to fit (ie. Bumper cover, wheel well liner, etc)? Is the filter any good? Thanks, Jeff

I got an e-bay short ram intake a few weeks ago. I cant say that im disapointed at at all. for 50 bucks shipped it is a great deal especially when compared to the real thing. My opinion is there is very little diffrence between this and the real thing except the price. sure the directions suck, but it took me only an hour to install. I had to tweak one bracket a bit but id probably have to do that on a name brand one. When i looked into the CAI vs the short ram, i saw that all the tubing and bends in th cai just to get the air filter 6 inches lower. The way i see it the short ram gets the intake far enough out of the engine compartment, has way less bends and tubing, and saves me $$ for the next thing i want to put in my XB.

You might want to look into that. . . but I know the design on this one is different than the injen one. The higher you go, the hotter it gets. . . and the lower and farther you can get from the engine, the better. If the bends are smooth, then even a few degrees of difference will overcome the flow change. Buy you can't really calculate it out easily. . . you'd need some extreme tests. . . or better yet and more simple. . . a dyno.

And the butt dyno is a very crude and inaccurate tool. In the long run, if the distances aren't huge, then the safety of keeping the intake far from water will be substantial. I strongly recommend that you do some research.

I didn't have any issues whatsoever with my Fujita F5. Great instructions and it installed exactly as they said it would.

It might cost quite a bit more, but in my opinion it is worth it. The position of the MAF sensor is better relative to the oil line, you get better hoses, better clamps, and extra filter, a duffle bag and a hat. For the price, it is really hard to beat their intake. If you can afford the price difference and the items listed above interest you, I would take a serious look at Fujita.
