Default For anyone who has strup headers

I finally got my Strup headers, now i'm just waiting for a good day to install them. During the installation, did any of you re-install the heat shield over the new headers?

Depending on your tranny you might need to use some type of heat shield material, i.e., header wrap, temp tape or high heat cloth, to shield your throttle cables from the heat generated by the header. Some people have had their cables melt (I have a manual and used a heat shield cloth wrapped around the throttle cables).

i dont think it can physically fit back on after the install unless you modify your tabs a bit.

i also do not have any heat wrap on them at all, but i have an auto, so it's all good.

and yeah you can't see the headers at all unless you poke around to the back of the engine bay and really look for it.

I have an auto and the Strup Header. No heat shield needed. It would look terrible, too.

If you have manual. They say wrap the cables and or just make sure they are pulled away from the heat or do both....

How much did you pay for the STRUP?

Good luck with it.

Did your Strup Header throw a CEL? Mine did and I don't know what to do to get it off. I've tried the antifouler trick but no success.

Ive had my Strup for almost 4 years now, and no problems. Matter of fact, all i get is compliments when a mechanic is working around it. No heat shield required, as i have an auto tranny.

1st gen xBs and xAs don't have O2 sensors in the header, so there's nothing to throw off, so we don't have the same CEL problems.
