Default A/C Condenser help....

Shop is saying that I "holed" the A/C condenser and need a new one. Is there any cross reference parts from say a Echo or other Toyota that I might be able to score from a junkyard. Money is always tight and it looks like $200.00 for aftermarket and the stealership wants $500 plus install, total $875.00. I would rather bolt up something and then have the system purged and filled...gotta be cheaper...
Posted in Maintenance section but not getting any replies...Thanks...

Default A/C Condenser

It's taken a shot from a rock or some object that put a hole in the front side. The dealership put some dye in it and that's how they discovered the leak...I would love
to blame someone but it went out last fall and I took it in for a check and to fix a couple of things before the warranty was up....I have almost 40K on the ODO and not quite 2 years old...

I have the same problem with my Scion. What BS. You'd think Toyota could do a bit better to prevent this sort of thing.

Have you tried a sealer kit? Advance auto sells one that contains metal flakes and seal sealer to put in a system for holes in evaporators or condensors. I used it in my 240d and it fixed the leak. Its like q2 bucks and sold by I believe artic. Their freon isnt bad either and they ahve a new one that NASA helped design to make it cooler faster.

The alternative would be to get someone to braze it who has torch skills.
