Default Cat-Back vs ???

Ok Im a newbie on exhaust. Can someone tell me what the difference is between a cat-back system and whatever other options there are. I know a cat-back system has something to do with emmisions and smog.

Im looking for something for a 350z so this is kind of off topic yet on topic

a cat-back system replaces everything from the cat back and an axle back just replaces pretty much just the muffler

If you want something for a 350 then check out Greddy and HKS. Greddy is the best stuff for a Nissan IMO.

A c/b should not effect emissions either. The only thing I know of that would effect emissions is a set of headers. But as long as the cat is still on the cat you should be fine.

well that makes sense I guess I was looking at HKS. Greddy was another I started to look at. So does cat-back include the Y bar then? I guess so huh

That I can't say for sure. I would think it would but I would contact either HKS or Greddy and fine out for sure.

So what is the benefit of a cat-back over an axel back?

power and sound. axle back is just a muffler, the rear section. Mid pipe is still stock.

Mid pipe: The section between the muffler (axle back) and the cat (catalytic converter). With the Z, you will want a cat back with aftermarket downpipe and header. Will really open it up for you...so much horspower waiting to be unleashed in that motor, that you wont have torque loss like you would in the xB.

I'll add a few links for u in a sec.
