Default Change transmission from manual to automatic ?

Hey there, I'm an owner of '06 Xb in Canada and I got faced with a strange dillema. My gf decided to go to colledge so all of a sudden we need a car for her 24/7 and my car is manual. I'm debating whetter to trade the Xb for something else in automatic or if it's possible to change manual into automatic ? I'm in Canada so all parts would have to go through states anyway since we don't have Scions here. Would this b hard to find parts, complicated to do or very very expensive ?
Would price difference between regular mechanic and Toyota dealership doin it ?
I'm just in a difficult position where I "have" to get automatic somehow and changin transmission would just b lest costy for me i think.

Would it go past 2k ? I'm willin to pay that much, ot is it like 3, 4k or more ? I don't know what are the costs for newer cars, i went through old civics with changin trannys, engines, and whatever there was to modify, but 10-15 yrs old cars are way different in price

I think going to an auto would be more because there are alot of electronics that would have to be put in, but the only way to really know is to ask a shop how much it would be to swap it.

teach her stick, or tell her to get her own car.

for how much you're looking to spend to make your car SLOWER, you can get her an older corolla, or a high mileage echo... that way she has a car, you're not stuck sharing, and you're not being whipped.

and if she can't learn stick, trade her in on someone who can ;)

How can you possibly think it would be cheaper? An auto is about $800 more than a standard transmission to begin with. Do you have any idea how much a dealership would charge for that? You're crazy. Way over $2000. A post I saw on here about someone needing a new motor said the dealer wanted somewhere around $6000 to put in a new motor. Never never never go to a dealership for work unless its under warranty and they pay for it.
If I were you, I'd tell her to learn how to drive a standard, or make her pay to get her own car. Besides, it's a girlfriend, it's not like you're married.

Make her learn to drive the car, or get her a some manner of beater, as was already sead. Converting to an automatic would be such a nightmare, and also be about the worst thing you can do to any car.

the trick to teaching someone to drive a stick is to ride with them for maybe 5 miles or so after they learn not to stall in 1st, then let them take the car out by themselves in your neighborhood. i learned in 1 or 2 hours tops after i found my dads old keys on the dresser and he was out of town.

You need to trade her for someone that knows how to drive a stick.
