Just put on my fujita cai on today. Amazingly well built product. Never had an intake go on that easy. Only prob was getting the filter on. Not the intakes fault, just a placement issue. Had to make sure to adjust it right so it didnt hit the battery.

A+!!

first isn't c.a.r.b. a california thing? second I have factory accessory booklets that say the TRD intake is legal in all 50states.
I don't see why there would be a problem over alittle charcoal filter that supposidly filters fumes that come out of the engine into the atmosphere. Still haven't figured out how all of this can escape with a closed throttle body. Anyway I know that on the 05 mustangs they had a filter in the intake but the next model year it was removed. What makes that so special as compared to our cars? Damn EPA.

ok what i found out is that the 06 air intake from a.e.m. has yet to be c.a.r.b. approved..and yes u guys are right its due to that stupid extra filter..reason being...scion used the 06 as a guinea pig for the 08..for obdIII reasons..so as for now most place are selling u the 05 a.e.m...and also acording to my c.a.r.b. smog book..all the intake for the scion for 06 are not c.a.r.b approved..only for off road use...so for u guys out there with air intakes....were cool till our first smog check..but with the cops..becarefull and pray they don't know the difference...

One of my numbers on the AEM CARB label has an 05 on it--I assume that is for the 2005 year. If the labels have to have the right year than it would not help to put a 05 label on an 06. As to the Fujita--they look and sound nice--but you will have trouble installing if you have factory fogs.

for all the 06ers, especially people who live in new york and cali, have any of u guys had a problem with ur sri's or cai's when u went to get ur inspections done?

This is really a bunch of bs. Maybe I'll just put a drop in filter and cut the bottom off, charcoal filter is still intact so they can't say sh*t.

AFAIK, inspections occur 3 years after purchase. So the earliest anyone with an 06 xB, will get hit with a problem is 2008.

If AEM is really coming out with a CARB legal CAI, I think I will wait for that one. >_> I don't want to remove the intake every time inspection comes around.

^ Yes that is true that ur excempt from inspection for the first 2-4 years depending on ur state, but that is just for plugging in and doing the obd2 emmission test they still have to do a visual inspection every year regardless of age.

Okay, this probably sounds retarded, but if I'm correct... You're saying AEM is the only one that is coming out with a CAI that is CARB legal and fits for the xB 2006?

Cause I have a CAI for my 06 xb, no stickers, so obviously we've got a problem... But I shouldn't run into any problems as long as Im the only one that looks under my hood till about 2008...Hopefully by then I can do a little upgrade and switcheroo of some parts... Actually not hopefully, im going to have to haha.

But 06 short rams are fine as far as legality? Like the Fujita for the 2006 xb... Sorry I'm a little slow when it comes to car stuff =(

Ok, here's my CAI experience on my 06.5.

First tried the K&N Typhoon. Install was pretty straight-forward (although a bit more involved than your typical CAI as you have to install the filter from UNDERNEATH the car). Looks and sounds great. Performed pretty well as far as I could tell. About three days after install, I'm on my way to work and I notice the "three lights of death" were on (VSC, Trac off, Check Engine). The car was running fine, so I continue on my way to work. Once there, I park, turn off the car and get to work. I wanted to give the engine time to cool off before I start reaching around in there. Break time comes.. so, I check to make sure all my hose and electrical connections are sound and secure. They are. So, I do an ECU reset, close the hood, and get back to work. Three days later, on the drive to wrok, same three lights come back on. At this point, I figure it's the CAI causing these lights as that's the only thing that had changed on the car prior to these lights coming on. So, I get home, put the stock stuff back on. Drove around for two weeks with no lights. K&N goes back in the box, and gets shelved in the garage (where it sits to this day).

After experiencing driving around with a CAI, then having to return to stock, I realized just how much I wanted a CAI (or, as I wound up with, a SR), but on that would not turn on the dummy lights. After doing much reading around this forum, as well as others (clubxb.com), iI found that more than a few people had run Injen's SR on 06.5's with no problems. So, I order mine up. It comes in, I install it, and all is well. Car runs just as well as it did with the Typhoon. And, 6 months later, it still has yet to cause my dummy lights to turn on. The install was just as easy as the Typhoon, minus having to resize (i.e. drill out) the mounting hole for the EVAP switch thingy that mounts to the post supplied by Injen. I guess the EVAP switches on 04-06 is different than the 06.5's. All in all, very happy with the look, sound, and performance of the Injen.

Had I done a bit more research and read about the improved design of the evap tube on the Fujita, I would've bought that over any of the other SR's out there. The price of the Fujita is a bit better as well.

Hope this helps.

Hm nothing? Thats nuts. Why don't dealers state these kinds of things. Californians are automatically screwed for just about everything, but not all dealers state if the part is CARB approved, or legal in cali or whatever. Laaaame.

I don't understand why an 04/05 is fine and why an 06 is not. Especially if some people are stating that the ones made for 04/05 fit with little or no trouble in the 06...
