Custom Cat Back Exhaust
Should i buy the OBX cat back exhaust or would i be better off and cheaper if i went to a shop and had it custom made? and also what is the best size of piping without losing too much low end? any advice would be appreciated..ive finally got some extra pennies saved up and its burnin a hole!!
whats OBX? check out some of the xA owners exhaust set up. some go custom and some dont. its prefrence.
just also keep in mind this is NOT a performance motor, nor car. so dont expect to run up on a STi and spank them into the next town.
Blitz, has a nice not so loud setup and it looks pretty good in my opinion. i had a blitz exhaust in my xB, not to loud but performed well and looked damn sexy too. Google it and you'll find what your lookin for!

Ok, so you wanna talk cat-back.
I would honestly just go completely custom if i were you, but if you plan on runnig stainless piping, there is no way it is going to be cheaper than the obx. If you could afford to swing it i would suggest running the magnaflow cat-back which is truly a NICE system w/ 2.5" piping. Honestly, you wont notice a huge gain as our cars n/a dont really need a ton of exhaust volume. They end up loosing the little back pressure they have and end up hindering performance.
Some cheaper alternatives could be having a high flow cat installed and removal of the resonator. This would be essentially much cheaper and save you some money for more noticeable upgrades (i.e. light weight crank pully)
...or go all out and boost the _____. thats what i did and its working out nicely at 8lbs.

Would the replacement of the cat with a high flow one cause the CEL light to come on and if i were to remove the resonator would i replace it with just straight piping? If i were to also replace the muffler with something aftermarket would that do anything good or just hurt the performance?
ok so what if i did this: replace cat with a high flow one, get rid of the resonator and replace with straight pipe and then have a custom axle back 2.25" welded on with an aftermarket muffler? Let me know what you think
I went with a full custom s.s. exhaust with high flow ceramic s.s. cat, no resonator, and kept my D.C. sports axle-back cause I like it. Went with 2.25" cost $650 @ Pro-motion tuning. Definatly added top-end
I first tried a DC Sports SP2 axle back on my xA. I wanted improved flow with a nice rumble, not screaming. Results: nice sound but not much gain.
I have since replaced it with a custom-bent 2 inch catback system with Magnaflow resonator & muffler. We opened up the back of the stock cat to plug in & weld the 2 inch pipe & fitted a new O2 bung in the correct position into the new system. I put on the the MMW 4-2-1 header at the same time. I compared notes with the guys at Precision Muffler on the 2 inch decision. Results: MUCH happier. Good flow. Good sound. More power. No loss of torque.

I have the RS*R exmag GT2 axleback exhaust with a MMW 4-2-1 header and injen SR intake. I have the nicest sounding N/A xB that I have personally ever heard. It sounds like im supercharged or turbocharged, but guess what, im not!
Well isnt the stock piping on the xa and xb already 2 inch? if so, how would putting just another 2 inch pipe on there improve flow besides the muffler and resonator? Please explain, maybe im just retarded. And how much did that setup cost you BWB?
Most stock set exhaust are not mandrel bent -the pipe has ridges on the turns therefore the effective diameter is much small. With most aftermarket exhaust, the bents are smooth and the diameter is maintained throughout the bend.
My xA's stock pipes were 1-3/4 inch diameter. The 2 X Magnaflow cans were approx. $120 total, + another $120 for the custom 2 inch pipe bending. MMW header I found on sale at the time for $250. A Magnaflow tip to finsh it off for $30.
