Default Dead Starter help..

I have a 04 Scion xB the Starter has died.
I was able to start it for a bit by tapping the starter and now nothing. I have to get it home.

Is there a way to bypass the starter or maybe use starter fluid. I'm not very mechanically inclined.

most likely it's just starter solenoid is dead. Grease in solenoid plunger has dried out and it doesnt slide smoothly. Thus, hammering loosensn\ it. But only temporarily.

You can spin it by connecting starter cables to starter to jump-start it. You'll find starter spins just fine.
