You can wet it, just dont go sprayin everywhere. My vote to you is just take a wet rag to it and try to wipe down everything. Spray some simple green on the rag, and wipe away. You might need another one to wipe off the soap, but it should be all good. If you do choose to hose it down, just watch out for the intake (i dont remember how they look, i changed mine a few days after i got it). Everything else should be fine
That's why I have the Injen Hydroshield. I have the stock grille as well, and the engine compartment (and even my short ram intake filter) gets wet in every rain storm. I guess the body panels don't fit together very tightly on these cars because leaves, dirt, dust, everything gets in the engine bay a lot easier.
I use Armorall Cleaning wipes and a wet rag to clean it up once in a while, but it sucks. My old cars engine didn't get this dirty.

I warm up the engine by having it set at idle for a few minutes...just so it is WARM to the touch, not hot. Then, I rinse with water from the open hose. Spray everything down with Simple Green and let it set for about 5-10 minutes. If it is really bad, I sometimes use my tire brush to scrub parts that are bad. Then, I get the hose again and rinse everything off. Works really well.
