Electric fan not working..
Radiator cap is supposed to hold about 16lbs of pressure in the cooling system. Then it opens and releases coolant into reservoir. If you have coolant leaking past the clamps before that, then you need to fix them. It doesn't matter if the engine has a blown head gasket or whatever. Clamps and hoses have to hold up and not leak even if the radiator is ready to burst.
Do xb1's have the fuse block that includes fan's like the xb2's do? I had to replace my fuse block (5 fuses in one....awesome Idea toyota) for around $50 from the stealership.

If you are desperate, plug in an OBDII tool (Kiwi Wi-Fi or UltraGauge). Find the "Engine Temp Gauge" and turn on your engine. At 205 degrees F, the electric fan is supposed to turn on. I suggest getting an Ultragauge just cuz its cheaper and it actually helps you out with a bunch of different gauges too. It was well worth the money I spent.
That should help you determine if it truly is a fan problem or something else.

My fan seems to be coming on more. Maybe it's just me. I mean it always came on in drive thrus after about 2 minutes sitting idle, and would come on for 20 seconds before coming back on in between 2 minute intervals. It seems to come on more now when going slow like 10 mph over a road with speed bumps. Probably just me, and finding something to worry about. Coolant is full. Damn the XB for no temperature gauge though!
I went for a ride a week ago, and it was real rainy, and my friend was putting on the defrost cause the windows were getting fogged up. Realized the control was turned to the defrost position. That might be why my fan kept kicking on!
