Default ENGINE LIGHT WHAT TO DO.

the engine light came on today out of no where and i dont know what to do, any ideas.

First step check your manual to see what the light could mean. If you dont find anything, take it to a toyota dealer. TO check the code in the computer they shouldn't charge more than 50 bucks, worst case, if they try to just talk to the manager.

unplug the positive terminal of the battery... wait 30 sec. re install positive terminal, see if light is gone... if not, check the fuel door and gas cap, make sure gas cap is tight, and fuel door is properly closed. that will set of the CEL.

+1 and if that dosent work then take it to the dealer.

thanks tried the gas cap idea didnt work ill try the battery idea now

not over yet. If it has a real problem the CEL will come back. your best bet is to have somebody scan the code.
