Default Exhaust

OK i bought a OBX exhaust about a month ago and went in easy enough but i replaced the donut gasket that goes between manifold and cat pipe twice first one was a larger one then this one was a oem replacement, I keep getting a cel and when i run the code says that there is a leak I am assuming it is at this point cause no issues before install looking at getting headers to go with the kit to complete it all but til then I would be nice if I can get the cel cleared for good. Any Ideas?

did you clear the code after you replaced the donut?

I assume that you replaced the donut because of the fault code

I'm pretty sure if the fault code wasnt cleared that it would still be there???

Yeah cleared it several times then while I am driving if I hit a bump or multiple bumps (Roads suck here) it trips it again. And yes I replaced the donut gasket

I have checked everything that I would have come in contact with no wires are damaged and are all plugged in so I am not sure what it would be.

have you checked the 02 sensor and sensor wires? it could be a faulty connection, loose wire or damaged sensor..

there are 2 o2 sensors in the xB I believe

be sure to check them both

I found this
"I found out how to bench test an o2 sensor and PCH is right (which now makes sense). The header o2 sensor is faulty. I checked them both anyhow. Using a digital 12vdc meter, you can read between the housing (neg) and the lead to the computer, should get 0 to 1.1 volt. Then heat up the tip with a torch and watch the voltage change to about 6 volts. Again, let it cool and it should drop. I searched "Oxygen sensors how they work" and got a wealth of useful information. I will let you know when the part comes in. And, the cel eliminator "

the o2 sensor will make voltage as it heats up..

Has this been resolved? If yes, how? I just got the OBX catback installed and my box is throwing a P0420 code (cat converter below threshold). I'm thinking of getting a mechanical O2 fix just like this one: Megan Racing Mechanical CEL Fix. I know Weapon-r also makes one but by the size of it the Megan one would make a better fit. Then I also saw this: OBD II 2 O2 sensor simulator at E-bay which sends a signal to trick the OBD.

I don't mean to thread-jack but this may turn out to be a solution to the original post too. Your 2 cents will be appreciated.

No I have not resolved the issue yet, I got the same code. I was thinking of trying a new 02 sensor but out of funds for now sorry i was not of any help, if either one of those work out for you please let me know.

I got the work-around for the P0420 code and it just costs me $5 at Autozone. I got the links in my thread. Hope this would work for you too. As I mentioned in my thread hopefully you'll see it my way too and consider putting on a cat-converter.
