Default GI: Custom Cams

I have been in contact with Mike at NST and we have talked about some cams for the 1NZ-FE motor. If he is going to persue we need to get a large intrest in them so lets hear it. They would be mild cams for the people that have emission testing and that way there won't be check engine lights on.

Possibly, depending on the gain and price.

Sorry forgot to include what Mike told me. Since R&D is going to cost so much and the market is not that large the cost is going to be similar to other cams he offers.

Keep in mind that cams are a complement mod and will get bigger gains with I/H/E pulleys and would greatly improve F/I set-ups.

We'll see how this turns out.
At a price tag in the upper $700 range, I would be VERY surprised if there are any more than 1 or 2 takers. NST had a difficult time just picking up 10+ people for a group buy on lightened pulleys.

Gude Performance already has custom cams for us. I have a set. Along with a ported throttle body, custom valve springs (yes, the cams were that radical that we needed them), and port and polish from them puts me at 116.3 hp and 107 torque. With the Greddy SC on before the Gude work, I put down 124.4 hp and 106 torque. Never put it on the dyno with the supercharger and head work together, which is what I am running now. Really need to do that. I can't keep the front tires hooked now, I can break them loose at 2500 rpm in 2nd gear. Kinda fun.

But I gained say about 26 hp over the factory 90 our cars put down with all the Gude Performance work. But that is full P&P, TB, Cams, and springs. You are looking at cams only. They wouldn't be able to be too radical because the factory valve springs can't take it. They allow the valves to float open WAY too long. So look for much less of a power gain. Say MAYBE, MAYBE 10 hp.

BTW, here is a link to my Cardomain page. There are pictures of the Gude work on there taken before it was put back on my car.

I have seen some info on the Gude package and some people don't want to spend all that money so I figured that I might try to help out a vendor from our communities. I know they have made cams before and may want to have another product to offer us
