Default Has anyone fabbed there own exhaust?

I am looking at fabbing my own, but am concerned on where to get the flanges, and also where to get the bends made. I already have an axle back setup so I just want to mate up with that.

any muffler shop will do bends, I have fabbed exhausts by cutting
off the flanges from the stock, welding and reusing them.
also, if you can weld you can just buy the bends you need from a
auto parts store, which is also what i do. If you need to clamp it,

Right on man, and I'm geussing that you just ream out the flanges once you weld them on to the new pipe? Also, what do you do for the O2 sensors? Just weld on some nuts?

summit and jegs sell o2 bungs to weld in, if looking to be
cheap, though they are cheap, reuse those too, but I would
go with the bungs premaid. I know for my LT1 chevy they sold o2 simulators, but no luck for 4 us. Yeah, and for reaming the flanges, I have just bought adapters to weld in, or have cut a relief slot a couple inches down each side of the pipe and wedged it on, then welded that.

Awesome, btw yours looks real nice. Any gains in HP? And after you weld on the flanges did you ream the inside of the stock flange to match the pipe diameter. I am trying to avoid "choke points". Thanks again.

Yeah, if you change diameter, then you will need to ream. I
just realized what you meant there. I havn't done that, but it
did bug me about the choke point, however i got over it
because i ran straight pipes, so i played it off as usefull
back pressure. You should be able to ream it out to a point,
of course 4" pipe wouldn't work, but somethin' bigger should
be managable. I have seen tremendous gains on the few
power mods I have done. Dyno numbers are not impressive
on these things at all, but power to weight is great. i just
saw today that an Acura RSX weighs about the same as us,
and my girlfriends cavalier is 200lbs more. Subtle changes,
are felt on these things.

Ok ive been trying to write this reply for the 4th time, but internet explorer keep deleting it, so im going to simplify it and if you have any questions just let me know. Ive included a drawing, which should be self explanatory, but any doubts just let me know and ill be glad to clear them up.



I used 2.25" plumbing for the exhaust with 2.25" cat and 2.25" resonator.

This is a list of parts that i have used:
1.) universal high flow cat converter
2.) universal high flow resonator
3.) cheapy eBay header
4.) InVidia axle-back exhaust

their expensive but they have the best stuff available, im doing my own exhaust and i should have pics soon
