Default i need better acceletation

i have had my scion for a little bit now and i have added a greedy evo2 exhuaust with a ingen SRI. i have no real complants about those two additions; however, i do still want better acceleration than what i'm currently getting. I'm not trying to beat anyone in a race, i just want to be able to get up and go a little quicker without installing a turbo. Any ideas?

4-2-1-header (helps the low end also) and a lightweight pulley would both help. IMHO

All of these mods (Intake, exhaust and header) to my knowledge decrease the backpressure in your exhaust system. More than likely, with these types of mods you should feel a slight difference, but it's going to be way up in the rev range. Even then sometimes it's going to be hard to tell a difference on the ole "butt" dyno. I don't think any of these mods are worth the price and time for the power gained, but some people on here swear by them.

As far as the ground kit and voltage stabilizer......don't even think for a second that these will add any noticeable power to your car.

I put on a CNR underdrive pulley. Its a great mod! the engine spins up alot faster now. The great part is that it improves the entire engine curve, not just a peak in the power band. Highly recomended!

Yeah, and a carbon fiber hood and a big spoiler, and you're looking at like 50hp!!

Haha!
Seriously, though, look over this forum. That's what it's all about.
You're really not going to find much other than bolt-ons.
Unless you want to crack open your engine, which is uncommon for this engine, the turbo/super charger is the only significant bolt-on.

I like my CAI and 4-2-1 header and I can feel the difference, but I'd only win a drag competition against other eggs and boxes. Maybe even a Hyundai or a Kia!

If you want power that will really matter, be prepared to dump a TON of cash into your car no matter what route you choose. The optional bolt-ons that remain will mostly be costly in terms of installation (i.e. flywheel) and everything else will cost in parts in addition to labour.

Remember that we're working on a mostly economy platform, not performance.
And SEARCH, man! Search!

Wow, well not to be a meanie but. proctorsilex you could not know less about that which you speak. I will follow the advice of the rest of the group and say that a header and pulley would be good. Not to be mean proctorsilex but, you slam the xb and yet you are here with us. I think working on my Xb has been a very good expirence and with the help of info here on scionlife learned alot. I have done all my mods, CAI, Header, Pulley, Ground wires, Iridium plugs, Exhaust, and man all together my Xb is a blast. I love to drive around town and down windy streets and hear my car and feel like I am going fast and just barely brake the speed limit. No my box is not fast or running times but, my xb is quick and sounds mean coming down the street. If I need to get into it I can hold my own for a bit and then I just wish it was a windier road. Any way I say keep modding and keep looking for fun way's to make the box quicker than it should be.

P.S. I forgot to mention that all of my parts were bought for great prices, by paying attention to sales. A little knowledge and some good reading here and you can save a ton of money.

Tim_Carr, not slamming, man. Just being realistic.
Working on my machine has been fun too.

I want more power, but the market is way under developed and the engine is hard to work with. Things look like they might be turning around a bit, but no matter what it's probably gonna cost a ton.

I love my xA's look, interior, and handling which is why I'm willing to put a lot into making it handle better and pull harder.

Sales are great. New product promotions, group buys, general sales, et cetera. Take your time to plan and find good prices.

Have fun.
