I installed the megan racing header to complete my I/H/E combo on my xA about a week ago. I have noticed that my rpm's dip low periodically at idle causing the car to kindda shake a little bit. What is the problem and What would fix this? I was thinking Ground Wires?
Stumped here..

 

i got the same problem i just dont have headers

 

could be your 02 sensor......get em checked

 

try retorging your exhaust bolts. It could be exhaust leak.

 

Bad gas maybe!!!

 

when does it happen? is it like when you've been driving for awhile or when you first start it up?

 

yeah i have that same problem. it usually fluctuates between 700 -900 rpm at idle

 

same with me... 600-900 at idle. is your AC on? turn it off, mine tends to stay the same with it off, just around 900

me too. if you LIGHTLY press the gas it will go away, so i guess if we can higher the idle just a little bit like 150 rpms then i think we would be fine

 

It is pretty much a constant thing, whenever I am stopped the RPM's dip down to maybe 700 or something. Yes, if you give it a little gas naturally it will go away. I highly doubt it is the bolts on the header.. I triple checked them. O2 Sensor is fine also... I was thinking maybe its due too lack of back pressure? I dunno tho.

 

Could be lack of back pressure. I read in a magazine awhile ago (import tuner or something-don't remember) that they took an xb and installed a full intake-header-catback system all at once. And just to show that these things need to be engineered to function a certain way (backpressure, etc.), and not just to let the exhaust flow out, They dynoed the car with no exhaust at all. They said that the car actually lost about 3 hp compared to stock. but that also ran crappy and had a rough idle.

Nice Article. Exhaust turned louder after header install... but thats expected.
