they said it would be 7.0 secs for 0-60
if its true, then wow.
they also said that it would be released june 1st so take that into consideration.... since we all know it will be released in the 3rd week of june

7 secs is totally reasonable...
BMW 325i stick is 0-60 in 7s... weighs much more and has a few more ponies...
S2000 weighs less, has higher revs... 5.7s...
G35... 5.9s... 280hp, 3400lbs
Civic Si ... 7.4s.. 160hp, same weight as tC, but only 80% of the torque...
RX8 is 5.9... but rotary engines are different... 238hp/164ftlb, 3100lbs...
but really matters is that the SC in the tC will probably bring about 50hp... ok, maybe closer to 45... but it will knock a good chunk off that 7.0...
P.S. - ALL these figures are for standard transmissions....

Ok well lets think about this. An I4 Camry in 5spd trim runs 0-60 in 8.3 seconds and does the quarter in 16.5@85. Seeing that the Tc has about 200lbs on the Camry, stickier tires, and maybe a few extra horses, Id say that it should run the 1/4 mile in the 15.8-16.2 range. The 0-60 should be around 7.5 (equal to the similarly powered Nissan SE-R Spec V, Mitsu Lancer Ralliart etc). You'd be able to get a 7.0 with some bolt-ons or maybe if you can drive the ____ out of it. Look for the S/C version to run equal to an RSX type S or maybe a little slower (6.1 0-60, 14.8 1/4mile).
you are forgetting the gearing changes to the transmission... think this doesn't make a difference... hehe, go try to ride your bike in the top gear... 0-30mph on your bike without shifting... sheesh...

well the 325 BMW is about 8.0s for auto and about 7.0 for stick... but that is a 5sp auto and a 5sp stick...
with the fact that first gear is much lower, I am thinking that the stick will probably be more like 1.2 to 1.3 seconds faster... I'll see if I can get some actual transmission numbers for the BMW to see if we can estimate better...
as for now, I am leaning towards about 7.0 or 7.1 for stick and 8.2 or 8.3 for auto...

If driving is a task to be done, if you see your car as just a tool to get from point A to point B. Get an Auto.
If you still cant decide, the stick will save you $800 :D
even if he does enjoy driving, bumper to bumper traffic in a congested city 5 day / week for an hour commute...
I'd go auto... the car will still be quick enough, you'll be happy...
but the stick will be more spirited on the road in every way... it is geared lower in top gear, so mountains and passing will be a little easier...
it is a coupe, so a stick is not a thorn in your side when it comes time to sell the car... try to do that with a sedan... they'll rape you on the resale value...

Get the stick... you'll get so used to it you won't even notice it in bumper to bumper traffic... If you've ever driven manual in a small decently powered car before you probably won't wanna go back to auto for awhile...
My Si was my first stick and I probably will not be buying another auto till I have a minivan and 4 kids...

I doubt it. In this instance you aren't going to see much from the blower in the 0-60 time. In my honest opinion we are probably looking at 8+ for both times.
The real benefit will be in the quarter mile. Unfortunately, that is how centrifugal blowers work.
My GTi (MK3) is 2700 lb car that from the factory makes more torque and more horsepower. Magazines have it as 0-60 in 6.5-7.2 seconds. There is no way a heavier car with less power and torque is going to come near that range.
