Default import racer dyno......

they dyno'ed an xB with magnaflow exhaust first. the baseline with the exhaust was 102 hp, and 101 tq i think. then they put on the AEM intake and the DC header. after both of those, it ended up at 105hp and 103 tq. bleh.

goes to show.. forced induction is really the only thing you should put your money toward engine/wise on the 1.5.. it's just too damn small to bother with

It's not necessarily that it's too small. It's that it is pretty efficient in stock trim. If an intake and a header only yields 3hp, then that tells me that the factory intake system and exaust manifold are pretty efficient in the first place.

For N/A there are other ways to go. Of course I would start with bolt-ons first, but they aren't going to do a whole lot for an internally stock engine. The engine already has 10.5:1 compression. If you were to mill the head enough to achieve 11.5:1 compression, and have your stock cam reground to a more aggressive profile, I'm sure power througout the rev range. mmmmm I'm thinking about some GSX-R Suzuki individual throttle bodies. That would be nice, and I bet the addition of a lightened flywheel would really make this small engine come to life.

you are 100% correct.

but the smaller displacement already making 108HP means it will take quite a bit to get any decent gains.

anyone pull the head and port/flowmatch yet?

I would like to, but I'm waiting to crack the engine open after the warranty is done. I'm sure a good valve job and cleaning up the ports a little bit would free up some power. I'm curious to see the quality of the casting of the head.

Any pics of the rotating parts?

i like how all the xb owners give a positive reason, saying that our cars are "efficient with stock trim", while everyone else would just say that our cars are slow and the aftermarket products for the xb suck.

a simple explination is, its all relative %
if you have a stock 200hp car a CAI will probably give you 4-6 hp more.
where 100hp would give you 2-3 more hp.
its a loooooong hill to climb

I think for both the xB and xA that intakes and exhaust or more for a little "feel" of power and sound than actual performance.

I still think they are both good mods..
