No, but I had to jack up the car, remove the wheel, and pull back the fender liner.

That looks like a quality set up.

My only fear with something like this Is the intakes ability to suck in water on a rainy/snowy day. I want to put an intake on my xA RS2 but I don't want my new engine to become a wet/dry vac.

With my Focus the CAI that I have is sealed in a box (Volant Performance Intake) and it's completely out of the elements.

the aem l pipe shown here is fine in rain unless you drive through 1+ foot deep puddles.

volant intakes are ok , very expensive , only slight hp gains , and imo ugly. and i believe they arent even carb approved for our cars.

Yep, I agree with you on that one. The Volant for the Focus was about $250. Quite a bit of miney but it works quite well on the Focus engine. As for their design on the xB intake, I'm not a big fan of it.

It seems to me that Ingen and AEM are pretty close (market wise) on the xA/xB.

yeah the injen gets like .5 more hp than the aem. i'd go with the injen cuz it's carb approved. the aem site said the xb intake was approved only to find it is still pending . I like them both.

I beleive the volant msrp for the xa/xb is 305 i believe.

oh and that aem wont fit the xa. only the dealer style snail aem or the k&n , or the short ram still in the engine compartment injen. the best bet for xa is the k&n . or so i've seen.

Does the filter on this sucker look like it would clear a factory foglite? The gen-u-wine factory AEM is supposed to rub the foglite. I like how the PCV tube enters AFTER the MAF sensor on this one. I am thinking about one of these then adapting an Apex-i filter to it or shortening the elbow end up an inch or so to raise up the filter a little more out of the splash zone.....

yes it will clear a factory foglight. may be a bit tight but you can fannagle it a bit to angle it a lil bit further from the back of the fog if u have rubbing issues. it never gets wet. theres a full water slash sheild between the filter and the tire and unless you like to drive through puddles that will let water into your interior you will have no problems.
