Default intake install....a few problems

Just bought and installed a bomz racing cai on my 06 xa. now i'm getting a p0103 code for MAF high input. i went back through and check everything and its all tight, nothing loose, nothing disconnected. it was a simple install, not much you can really mess up. anyone have any thoughts? i just bought it because it was better than dropping 2-300 for a name brand deal. havent had any problems in the past with ebay intakes on previous cars, until now.

The only difference i can see as far as MAF placement compared to stock is its a little closer to the TB than stock, thats about it. anyone else ran into this before?

yea i took the battery out to install. then when i started it up code came on. tried to clear the code with my matco scanner. it said it cleared but light was still on. think its probably time to update or buy a newer scanner. i put the stock intake back in and the light is still on and also tried to unhook battery for about 10 min or so and its still on...

agreed, try to clean your MAF, it may have become dirty over time, or gotten greasy etc... as you were making the change.

i took the maf back out and made sure it was clean. my scan tool wont clear the light and my friend at toyota used their toyota scanner tonight and it still wouldnt clear. I'm 1k out of warranty but i'm pretty sure they will good will a new maf. kinda weird if you ask me. I've done a lot of of jobs on many many different cars and have never seen something like this.... well, first time for everything.

Did you drop it/shake it/actually touch the sensor? What about PCV placement is it different from stock? Check the wiring/connector for the MAF.

yeah, usually a high input code aims towards a sensor failure, or a pin pulled in the harness connector.
