Default Intake Question Regarding E-Bay

My friend is in automotive and he is trying to tell me that any intake is better then your stock. I am not looking to really modify my car for power so i wanted to go with something cheap. He found this and told me to get it off ebay but 60$ is way to cheap and to me, something doesnt sound right. Would it really make a difference or is it a waste of 60$, check it out

Ummm.....yeah..............NO. Here's a good rule dealing with EBAY (I get a lot of stuff from them so I'm not knocking).

***If the picture isn't the picture of the actual part for your car or the actual part itself, then don't get it.

Also, generic EBAY intakes aren't tested like the name brand ones are. There are no actual tests performed to see how the bends in the pipe or the filter itself will work with that setup. Anyone can make a CAI and sell if for cheap. The testing should be performed on the bends of the pipe, length of the tube and width of the tube.

Be careful with getting "performance" parts from ebay. If it refers you to a well known, or at least somewhat accredited company, then maybe. Email the manufacturer (not the seller) and see if this is an authentic intake via their company and if they have any test charts on it.

You will probobly find that this is something that you don't want.

P.S. If your friend said that any intake is better than the stock one, he might want to re-evaluate his thoughts in the automotive industry. A good portion of the times, the stock intake performes better due to being plastic (less heat soak) and the piping is already routed for optimal "performance." Aftermarket intakes may increase a slight amount of HP (nothing noticeable), but unless you take precautions for heat soaking issues (heat wrap the pipes or something along those lines), the stock set up is pretty damn good. Just a little FYI

I used to buy parts from eBay...after being ripped off and receiving total junk a few times, I have since stopped buying from eBay all together. I got lucky once or twice but other than that I avoid eBay all together.

Desnudate, this is the one you want if you need performance and looks for cheap:

I have one, and I swear by it! The intake is a genuine K&N and the fit is perfect. There's an install writeup in the tech section that makes it all perfectly clear:

If you're ever in the Allentown / Bethlehem / Easton area you're welcome to take a look at it firsthand.

no a $60 intake off ebay wouldn't be better than your stock one, first of all those cheap parts increases your risk of messing up your car, plus like web said, it ain't perfect fit, don't want to deal with bending it yourself, top of that its probably cheap crome paint over a piece of potential rusting metal. Id say go for a cheaper brand, don't go trd, cause that thing is $$$.
