K&N Airfilter???
I'm just talking from memory here, but as far as I could remember the filters go anywhere from $35 to $50. I do not have one on my xA (waiting for their Typhoon intake to come out), but I do know that K&N makes the best filters. I bet that if you bought an aftermarket intake (Injen, SPFR, AEM, etc...), and swapped the filter out for a K&N one, you could pick up a little more power. But yeah, K&N on stock intake, you should notice an increase in power.
I'm currently being sponsored by K&N...i have the typhoon air intake system. i have to say that i was impressed how much of a difference the intake makes.

i have the blue one...looks pretty nice.

i put the TRD drop-in oiled air filter in my xB and it seemed to let the engine run a little easier and it felt slightly stronger....it replaced the original paper air filter and i think the TRD one lets the air flow easier to the engine....you clean it just like the oiled filters on intakes, every 12-15k or so.....
it was about $50.....
it was about $50.....
yanges...Sounds like a no brainer...Did you get your drop-in filter in town, I am in L.A.? Does it come with instructions for cleaning? Did you notice any change (for better or worse) in fuel efficiency?
Sorry for all the questions...

I ordered it from www.usdieselparts.com part number 33-2211. it is $38.20 free shipping no tax.
Contrary to what some owners may think, I do feel a slight bump in performance, powerwise and fuel economy wise (if only ever so slightly). It keeps the engine bay looking clean and you dont have to worry about sucking in water and cracking your engine block like some CAI's do. I highly recommend it. :D

as for the cleaning, you need to get a cleaning kit [filter rinse and re-oiler], but you could wait on that as it does not need cleaning for 12-15k miles at least.....i think the cleaning kit was about $13 ...
if you are in the Valley you could try Keyes Toyota or Hamer Toyota...
i did not notice any difference in my mileage....
hope this helps....

i didn't run any dyno test..so i can't say how much HP i have gained..but i definitely feel the difference. i'll estimate the gain to be atleast 3 to 5 HP.
I'm sponsored by K&N and I find the Typhoon cold air intake to be a great performance mod.
I noticed the difference immediately on the freeway drive coming back from K&N where they installed it.
It also has a nice sound.
I notice the performance increase, particularly at the higher RPMs.
James at K&N dyno'd it at installation and found an actual significant HP increase to the wheel.
