Why not transfer your old sensor to the new block?

the old sensor is one piece the new one goes on a stud with a nut holding it on. I'm trying not to have to pull the intake off to put old one on

I have the same issue, an 04 xA with an 06 Engine going in. I shot you a PM but haven't heard back so was wondering if anyone has a solution to this.

I'm faced with the same problem. I simply can't seem to remove the threaded stud from the '06 engine so I can install the stock'05 Knock sensor. I'd much rather stay as stock and swap out the Knock Sensors, but I'm thinking the best avenue is to ground the black wire and splice the white wire to the harness.

On the surface this should work as all the thing is is a microphone listening for detonation. But I'm concerned about the VSC Traction like problem you're now having.

Did you ever get this sorted out?

Edit: I decided to take the safe way out.... as I now have no choice because the stud for the '06 Knock Sensor snapped off when I tried to remove it with a stud puller.

So I just purchased a Hansen 1.25mm x 12mm drill and tap on EBay and the completion date now moved to next weekend.

'05 Knock sensor is now mounted in the '06 block. All is good.

There really isn't anything to take a picture of. On the '06 there is a nipple with a bolt end. That is what you mount the '06 knock sensor on with a nut. As I recall, it is a single wire sensor.

The 04-05 has a tapped hole you screw a nut into to hold a double wire sensor in place at the same location. I simply cut off the nipple and drilled a hole, tapped it so I could screw a nut in to hold the 04-05 sensor. That so the 04-05 ECU would see what it expected to see.

no, the 2006 and up has a stud coming out of it and a 2 wire sensor.

the 2005 and under has a single wire prong sensor that taps into the block.

i have a 2005 xB and the engine I’m using came out of a working and running properly 2006 xB.

what I’m trying to do is use the 2006 knock sensor on the 2005 harness with the 2005 ecu. And the body of the car is a 2005.

but I think imma end up using the 2006 ecu with the 2005 engine harness and hardwire it directly to the ecu. (Hopefully it works)

I’m trying to get the 2006 ecu working in my 2005 body because of transmission issues.. the overdrive is not functioning as of now.
From what I hear the 2006 auto transmission needs a 2006 ecu for it to function properly?

car won’t start when I plugged up my 2006 ecu. Could it be possible the 2006 ecu has an immobilizer?

oh my car is an automatic by the way.

i did some testing of the ECU’s by swapping them around, I even tried it with a matching ignition and key from the 2006, NO DICE!!! 😭

So I will go your route and use my 2005 ecu and a 2005 transmission on my 2006 motor on my 2005 xB.

And I also cannot swap over ECU because it’s not that simple like old school Hondas. And the ECU is also VIN# programmed into, so that will make it a _____ for inspection in PA.

looks like I’ll have to use the 2005 knock sensor on the 2006 block and tap into it like you did.

and I also got swap back the 2005 transmission because the 2006 transmission doesn’t work well with the 2005 ECU. (The gearing is off and the overdrive won’t kick in)

Thanks again for this info, it’s been a pain in my ___ for the past 3 weeks.
