Koyo radiator upgrade questions?
i would/will get this radiator
the cooling system on the xB is minimal at best
ANY help in cooling will extend the life of these Hot Boxes
trans fluid cooler and an oil cooler are next for me......

i don't see why t/c or s/c has any bearing on your question...
any added cooling will help. esp. for those in warmer climates...
ATF coolers are not for t/c or s/c motors (they should be stick shifts if they are serious about power)
ATF coolers are good if you drive up hills a lot, or have a lot of weight in the car, or tow. all of these put extra strain on Auto trannys and the extra cooling helps. nothing to do with t/c or s/c.
sorry to burst your bubble....

well dg....
Top Fuel drag racers use automatic trannies
they can hold the power(when modified) and be FAR MORE CONSISTENT then anyone with a clutch....
that aside, i have made custom cooling systems for manual transmission race cars--HUGE difference
just adding the ATF cooler will make an overall difference in cooling
the ATF is cooler in the radiator(bottom) and lets say the stock radiator has the capacity to cool the engine coolant and auto trans fluid
creating a seperate system for the ATF will lessen the load on the radiator
it will also offer lower temps for the ATF and lower the amount of time the fan has to run

you can't even begin to compare the scion atuo tranny with a top fuel tranny...
and how would that affect putting a ATF cooler on the scion???

Dave,
I think its almost a necessity for me at this time to put one on, sometimes I cant control when the tranny is going to shift because the boost takes over past around 4000RPM's and sometimes will bang into gear real hard. I have a tranny temp gauge that I will be using as well to monitor it inside of the car.

i was only tring to point out other situations where an ATF cooler would be benefitial...
ie. towing, having lots of weight in the car (heavy ICE set ups), going up hills often, even long distance or lead foot drivers should get one (better one).
the original question was implying only a boosted motor would benefit from an ATF cooler.
all motor set ups can benefit from such added cooling....thats all

Ohh yea w/out a doubt and its funny cause this is usually one of the most important but overlooked mod for your car...I guess most people w/ automatics didnt buy them to make the tranny reliably withstand higher than stock hp numbers
how is this koyo any better? if it's an oem replacement it's probably the same cooling. if the size is larger they'd market it that way. also how weak is this a 1 core/row.?
Sorry, if i didn't write my question correctly (im a total noob), What im trying to get to is, if I upgrade the radiator and add a atf cooler will it give more life to my car/tranny.
And to my previous responce, I was told that atf coolers were for t/c and s/c engines, and weren't needed if not t/c or s/c. I was lied too!

yes, better cooling and longer life please
I bought an auto cause I am really lazy
i should not have extended my answer, sorry
automatics have their place in drag racing
but even my race car is manual

Depends on which koyo you get. They make oem replacements and that will do nothing to improve your cooling. Koyo does make a performance radiator which is thicker than stock. However, I have yet to see one for the xa/xb.
im not to sure, but is this an upgraded kayo or just an oem?
