i thought the top fuel dragsters (rail cars) and funny cars didn't use a transmission of any kind

it goes from engine (no tranny) just too the diff. but the diff has a huge huge clutch pack that i think is good or a one run or slightly little more

i am not sure if those trannies can be considered either

it is technically an air shifted maual that has a large or small amount of slip built into the clutch
it has to slip like an auto, or the tires would melt real quick
they are designed to fully engage at the last 100 yards of the 1/4 mile
