Swapping to a gear ratio that is lower would make your gearing wider. The car would be slower, and it will take forever to get up to speed. The gearing in the xA/xB already is too wide for the motor, at 125 mph, the the car doesnt accelerate anymore but you have plenty of revs left. Therefore you need shorter gearing. (higher final drive)

If you turbo, or heavily mod your engine you're going to run into transmission problems like I have now. The C150/C50 transmissions were not meant to be raced with. The C60/C160 can take the abuse.

When you brace the section that you have to notch out, you technically make that section of the frame stronger. This sort of swap is meant for someone serious about making the xA, xB, Echo and Yaris faster, not for comfort. Unless you got gold bricks coming out of your @$$.

I'm only considering to do this because I'm dead serious about building a race car out of my xB. I plan on having the chassis stitch welded and fully prepped for road racing, but thats the long term plan....:-P

I am interested to see what people come up with as it is proven our tranny's can only handle so many PSI. I believe fusionscion was running 11psi and trashed the tranny

I just straight up want a 6 speed tranny or a better gear ratio for highway cruising. As stated earlier, 4 grand on the highway is unacceptable.

It's not a highway cruiser type of car. 4000 rpms on the highway isn't going to hurt anything.

The Matrix XRS or Celica GTS tranny swap is a very hard swap to do because ... UNlike the Corolla Levin BZG or Tureno GTS the Matrix XRS and Celica GTS rocks a bigger axle... That means you need to hybrid the axles which is a cost alot of money or convert your hubs,brakes into Celica GTS or Matrix XRS ...

the Matrix XRS/Celica GTS = C60
the Corolla Levin or Tureno = C160

both c-series trannies but C60 rocks a bigger/thicker axle

I haven't heard many good things about the matrix xrs anyway to really warrant an upgrade to such a setup. Gearing is still an issue in even those cars.
