Megan headers?
Are the Megan headers any good? I saw some on ebay for a reasonable price and just want to get some feedback befroe i decide on whether to purchase or not. Thanks
i got it on ebay, i saved my stock manifold for smog in 3 years(if i still have the car by then) and the install was hard, i could not do it myself and had a place do it. if you have floor jacks(which i dont have) then you can do it fairly easy by spraying some lube on the spring loaded bolts

i have the meagan header and it was an easy install about 1.5 hours with jackstands..the only gripe i had was that i had to supply a couple of nuts for the spring loaded bolts because the meagan header i got was not threaded. The performance gain is subtle but can be felt on the butt dyno especially in the 3500-5500 rpms. I paid $150 for my header
I love my megan header , i've gotten my hood popped twice with em and the cop never saw them . as far as smog it'll be a swap for the stockers. it took me about an hour the first time i swapped header now it;s down to like 30 minutes. best power mod for the money. got mine for aboput 130 shipped when they first came out.
i got my 1st Gen. Megans for $80.00. (6mo. ago)
at first it didn't seem to be of any diff, till i drove around for the last week. and there is a positve diff.
its a good mod.

My understanding with smog these days is:
1. They connect a code reader to your computer and check for errors.
2. If no errors they do a simple visual (Most don't look to see if you have a header)
3. If all is good, then you pass.
This is word of mouth. Take it as such.
I don't see how it would mess with emissions anyways, there isn't a precat in the manifold like some cars. Really nothing changed between the manifold and header except the header is designed to flow better and is not made from cast iron. The o2 sensor is down the line and doesn't get messed with, which is what most shops would look at during a visual, along with the catalytic converter.

It's biennial, every two years, but they'll just extort an exemption fee for the first two times cuz they know that most cars will still pass (assuming they haven't been modded

Do I need a smog certification? What if I haven't had my vehicle smog checked?
Currently, smog inspections are required for all vehicles except diesel powered vehicles, electric, natural gas powered vehicles over 14,000 lbs, hybrids, motorcycles, trailers, or vehicles 1975 and older.
Vehicles registered in areas subject to the biennial smog certification program are required to submit evidence of a smog certification every other renewal period. Owners of vehicles six or less model years old will pay an annual smog abatement fee for the first six registration years instead of being required to provide a biennial smog certification. The registration renewal notice mailed to you by the department will indicate if a smog certification is required

That first header... it's not a MEgan is it. I can't find anything out about that one. I'd hop in it ifthey had some better pics or someone could confirm it is a Megan. It's to easy to get confused with descriptions and pictures that looks just like another one, I'd rather have the quality, but I'd also rather save the $50 more that the Megan is
