so again you have to add wires to the system ? do you mean spark plug wires or the wire leads into the coilpacks?

actually the CDI will give you better and more powerful spark than the factory coil on plug. Dont think I didnt research this. I am not one to just throw on parts....

msd does not make any ignition upgrades for the 1nz. if you were in to custon apps, there are c.p.s that can be retrofited. ive got the aem and with denso 11mm 40ohm wires. check it out, makes a much better start for boosted applications or even nitrous.

I really wish hotbox would stop posting his negative crap on these boards. Everywhere I look where people are trying new things on our cars he has his mouth running in a negative degrading manner.

no. just realization to parts that aren't as great as people think they are. not negative or degrading but realistic and my point of view.

adding length of wire to a coil on plug design doesnt seem efficient to me. the aem with a stronger coilpack has to be multitudes better than the hotwires which add wire to stock coilpacks.

would like to see the spark numbers of the aem packs versus stock.

I can relate to Hotbox05's point of view. He's a cynic, a skeptic, a realist. I have been accused of the same on many occasions. Sometimes he comes across as negative, but in most instances his comments are justified.

In this particular instance, I have to side with him. Until I see some sort of empirical data proving the advantages of switching over to the AEM coil packs and adding plug wires I have to believe that the coil pack on plug design will be more efficient.

Now don't get me wrong. I am not saying that I hope it isn't any better. Anyplace we can get more efficiency or power out of our little 1.5 I am all for it. But I am not about to sink my hard earned money into something with absolutely no proof yet of a valid increase in efficiency of performance.

I have to admit that the xB's coilpacks are pretty slick. Plug and coil wires have traditionally been a PITA , as has been anything resembling a distributor.

Goodbye, and Good Riddance!

I say save your money and listen to HotBox. These systems are gimmicky at best.
