well, with 24k and change on the car i believe that it is time to fix some of the issues that i have had for 1.5 years now..
first off, the clutch was just to soft for me to begin with... but now that it is a little worn (from racing and one big ol smoky burnout), i felt the need to replace it, so i walked into my local advance auto parts, because i have a firend that works there, to get an upgraded clutch.... and low and behold there are 8 of them to choose from (including the trd) and all have stage 0-4 included with the manufacture name, which for the life of me i cant remember any... the most expensize was $430 and change for the stage 4 from some brand....
my questiong is WTF do the stages mean?
the components of the clutchs were carbon and kevlar
help. i dont know which clutch i should get. i am non boosted right now. but that may change.... i just want something that will have a firmer pedal and faster response that can withstand a little drag racing and maybe a burnout or two
thats it.. Don

the higher the stage number the more aggressive the clutch is. i have a SPEC stage 2+ it's nice. coupled with a stainless steel clutch line it feels like stock pressure wise but grabs like a ****. still very streetable while grabbing hard when you want to drive it as such.
I believe the higher the stage the closer to a race clutch. Take a look at the various websites here in the parts section:

I believe one of these sites has an explanation of stages......

ok, now i kinda understand the stages..... but im still a little unsure about what to go with...
anyone know how i can increase the feel of the pedal, by which i mean to make it a little stiffer

Meh- even with turbo, a stage 2 Spec or similar would do the job well. It's easy to get carried away when doing a clutch upgrade, and to arrive at something you really don't want to drive everyday, something more suitable to being pounded on the track...
And it depends on circumstance- if you're never stuck in stop and go traffic, a heavier clutch can be more tolerable, which is not necessarily to say more desirable.

the problem with the higher stage cluth is that it'll burn out or stall if you aren't giving it lots of gas and massaging the clutch pedal just right. it sounds like you're used to a eavy , sloppy mustang clutch or something like that. probably not the best thing to get a full on race clutch. JMO
my suggestion would be get a clutch with a street disc and higher pressure plate. other option is to maybe go with a 4 puck race disc and the higher pressure plate which is a race clutc but no so much as a 6 puck reach commonly requires lots of reving and getting used too.
