Default OMG!!!!! Noooo...............

Ok, so I leave my house, go 2 blocks and stop at a light, light turns green, I make my left, (A/C is off, and I'm accelling easy, behind other cars), as soon as i straighten out, I hear a bang and a buch of, what sounds like glass falling. I'm next to a dark parking lot and my immediate reaction is someone just hit my car with a beer bottle. So, I whip into the lot to kick some ___, but noone is there, then my battery light comes on.. 2 seconds later i'm overheating, so okay, I now think i blew a belt.. no biggie i'll buy a new one (I only have 3600 miles on her, but I said i would never let the dealer touch her). I turn around to go home, 2 blocks away, i open the hood, and yup the belts missing, so okay.. then i grab a flashlight, take a gander to see what caused such a commotion (damage), and guess what I see, my A/C compressor clutch gone, then a closer look reviels the compressor, mostly missing .. EXPLODED!!! I take my girlfriends car back to the intersection and find shrapnel everywhere.. I can't believe this $hit, now tomarrow i have to return her to stock, and monday drag her down to kendall toyota and have her cherry popped.. arrgh!! I work for an acura dealer and know how techs treat cars, I never wanted to take her there, but I cant afford this right now, and I need my car.. what a crappy saturday night..

anyone have xpierience with kendall toyota in miami? Should i put the stock springs and tires back on too?

When you say that you've got to return her to stock.....what, exactly, are you changing back to stock? The only thing that I could remotely see them trying to blame it on would be an underdrive pulley.

yeah, but I talked to a tech at that dealer, and he said as
soon as they saw it they would say I raced it and make me
pay.. like I said I can't afford to deal with any crap right now,
and need it fixed.. so I won't take chances on an argument
with them, that would even cause a 1 day delay.. I just need
it going ASAP.. and scince I got sunday, I will use it it to avoid
this, but my issue is not this stuff, its just the fact that it happened
and I never wanted them to touch it and now i have to, and can't
believe it.

cold air, exhaust, drop, camber kit, strut bar, I know this stuff couldn't cause this to happen, but also working for a dealer, i know they will use it against you, if they are too high on warranty work or need more customer pay work, etc.,.

So...aftermarket pulley or not?

If not and they tell you that it's not covered, then ask for a manager and if that doesn't work, then ask then to do a conference call with Scion Corporate with you standing there. You could then proceed to gloat in their face when they are told to fix it.

On second thought....save the gloating until after your satisfied with the work. That might save any defecating upon your baby.

I'd leave it as-is (if there's not an underdrive pulley) and if they say anything, Magnussen-Moss is your friend. There's no way any of those mods did this, unless your CAI got a mind of its own and got mad at your compressor and worked its way to the other side of the engine compartment and bashed the hell out of the compressor, which is totally plausible.

They have to prove that any mod installed caused the damage. They can't just pull an excuse out of their ___.
And you don't have to take it back to the dealer it was purchased from either.

So, anyways, been up all morning and my intake and exhaust are back to factory, every clip and screw (kept all that stuff marked and bagged for just such an occasion). Left my suspension alone 'cuz short of hitting something, they can't be a factor.. also, inspected sub frame and plastic spash shields and there is not a blemish.. Monday, we'll see what happens, i'm sure it will be fine.

From this thread.
