Default Oy! Injen SR intake install...

Quick question what the heck do I do with these bolts? I tried everything I got and I couldnt get em loose. what gives?

These are the 3 bolts at the bottom of the stock filter box. I was trying to remove it to install my intake but the bolts wouldnt budge. Any ideas?

Are you turning counter-clockwise? It's attached to a plastic filter housing. . . if they over torqued the bolts, they would have cracked the filter box.

Just a thought but if the car had been driven right before you started the install it may have been hot enought to make the bolts harder to come out. Just a guess since I hardly even trust myself sometimes.

The Car had been driven. I didnt have a breaker bar so I had to come up with one and I busted my roomated cheep socket wrench The car was driven prior to install so maybe heat. I am thinking I just need a real breaker bar. I will have to pick one up it looks like.

Thanks all.

PS Yeah I was turning counter-clockwise.
PSS Yes I tried a can of spinach

1. moved to power hungry incase this comes up for someone else

2. it is a 10mm and it shouldn't be that hard to get off. i have small hands, so maybe if you large hands find someone with small hands and see if they can do it

The other solution is to just leave it there. That's what I did. I left the stock airbox........just removed the piping that was in the way.

spray with wd-40 and let it sit for a bit..usually does the trick, although when i did my install, just pulled in from driving 40 mi from work....didnt give me any trouble at all..
just try the wd-40.
hope this helps.

for most stubborn bolts, a WD40 drench or a few taps with a hammer will do the trick.

for a few minutes i was wondering if spinach oil loosens up the bolt or something... then I caught the reference...

my bolts weren't that tight, and i drove my box around quite a bit before putting the intake in.
i'd say devise an extension to clear the box... you may need a friend to help press downwards.. I borrowed my mechanic friend's tools so maybe you need some higher quality tools (the kind that don't break)

use a hammer on the wrench(tapping on it) while applying torque on it that might help too

I used a ratchet with a SHORT 2" handle and a 2" extention. No extra force needed.
