Power For Under $500
I am looking to spend a little money on my 06 XB, (it is a manual) and did not know wether to go with a short ram intake, a cold air intake, or some type of exhaust. What have you guys done and what do you think would give me the most increase in power for under $500. I am just looking to not get beat in drags by freaking honda civics. Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.
Iwould say SRI and an axle back exhaust for $500. This will add a little hp to your ride and give it a great sound to. Once you get more money to spend then get a header and a light weight pulley. If you had more than $500 then get the cat-back exhaust well worth the extra dough. Just my opinion. Spend your money well young jedi (lol) and once you start modding you'll never be able to stop, it's alot like crack. Good luck
if you guys could be a little meore specific on what brand/model of intake and exhaust it would be great i am looking at buying this stuff this weekend. Would a catback exhaust be bolt on like a axel back or would i have to weld because i dont know how. and dont feel like geting riped off by a shop.
Injen SRI, precision muffler axle back or magnaflow cat back, DC Sports header and a perrin lighweight crank pulley. I beleive the cat back does just bolt on, you just have to cut the exhaust right before the cat. But i will find out exactly for you. Hope this helps. All are do it your self projects with the right knowledge and tools.
AEM intake I got mine from www.NOPI.com, DC sports header www.ptuning.com, light weight crank pulley www.perrinperformance.com, then once you get some more cash get an exhaust.
I believe the Perrin is 2 lbs./stock around 10 lbs?? The box mine came in listed it @ 1.2 lbs, so right around that figure. Quicker revs & acceleration.
Has anyone dyno tested the"claimed" 2.7 hp gain for every pound shed from the stock pulley? HP gain just sounds too steep.

But neither lightening the car or the pulley is going to create additional horsepower.
These measures cannot add any horsepower to the engine's output because they do not affect the way the engine runs.

There are a couple of ways to go about doing what you want to do. One way is to go as cheap as possible, and the other is to find the best deal on the parts you want.
To go cheap you can get a YDR intake, Megan header, custom axle back and an Agency Power Pulley for under $500.
If you need to maintain the $500 limit, and don't want to skimp on parts I would recommend the following in order...
Fujita F5 Short Ram Intake - $140 +/-
Strup or DC Header - $225-270
Your choice of axle Back - $300+/-
Agency Power Pulley - $130
You can really make your own decision as to what brands to buy. Just do plenty of research before you make a final decision. And keep in mind that you will get as many opinions on what to do as you do responses. Everyone has their own preferences, likes and dislikes.
