Calm down squirrel...

I've had the wrong parts packaged in the right packaging and sent to me before. Not knowing they were the wrong parts, I went ahead with the install. The parts wouldn't fit...I'm here like 'wtf.' I, then, contacted the company who made the parts. They went ahead and shipped out replacement parts. Yes, the hard work and waiting sucks...but saying that Perrin did not do R&D for their products is hard to swallow...

I'm just giving the benefit of the doubt. 'Don't have a cow!' I'm sure Perrin will gladly help Munch out, if not Vivid Racing. Munch might want to call or PM "Perrin Adam" for help...

And yes, I was waiting for someone to install/review it before I took a jab at it...

because they can balance it after its been lightened and it still retains the harmonic dampener
the harmonic dampening isn't because the unit is balanced, it is because of it's mass... the more mass at a larger radius the better for dampening... the lighter the less useful it is...
I'm waiting for you to attempt to explain torsional resonance to these guys. Good luck!...

Mike,

Funny I don't see any capitals in my post, or angry emoticons. My post looks like a normal matter of fact tone post. My post is neither derogatory, nor does it flame a specific business/person. I just thanked Munch for posting his review, and for saving me some money.

Funny, I can't find any of this in my post: "Yes, the hard work and waiting sucks...but saying that Perrin did not do R&D for their products is hard to swallow..."

Or is it that you're upset cuz you have an interest in the part that Munch installed?

If someone else is being harsh in a post, its not fair to include everyone in the thread as being harsh.

What, am I going to be put on "probation" now cuz I was "harsh"? Just cuz I post every mod has got to look at my threads w/ a fine tooth comb? Its no wonder those with the knowledge have left this site.

Just because I don't have a certain product on my car, because I don't support a certain business, and because certain mods run businesses that I don't buy from, I get criticized?

Its not those who post here that will bring down this site, its the mods who are taking posts personally.

Go ahead and edit/delete this post, I have it saved to my hard drive.

Oops, SORRY MUNCH for getting OT!

No problem man, looks like I just took one for the team
You should be able to get your $$$$ back. The part doesn't fit!
Let me know how it works out. If the situation gets resolved and everything fits like its supposed to, I'll order a set.

I'll do that. I just didn't want people running into the same problem that I did.

Look at the picture closely and you can see the size difference of the power steering part of the pulley. It's just not the same size as the stock unit,it's smaller. So I guess all of them will have this problem.

Yeah, I can see it now. and they said no underdrive, so you know that's not by design. Odd.

and, Squirell, I think that Mike was busting on me.

I'm sorry to hear that and thanks for letting us know. I was planning to buy the pulley too. I've heard many people talked about this issue in the Subaru forum (in general where its size matched with the OEM's). They even make a poll on it. Anyway, according to the poll, the perrin pulley is worth an upgrade and cause no damage to the engine so far.

I don't have the link, but you can do a search on google...

Hope that Pulley Adam have a solution for this. :?:

The smaller wheel of the pulley (the power steering belt side) is 5 1/8 inches. The Big side ( the alternater belt side) is alittle under 6 1/2 inches.

They called me today at 1:57p.m. EST. They gave me a direct number to Perrin. I told this guy at Perrin what the problem was and he told me he would get back to me tomorrow after he checked a few things. He was supposed to be the guy who built the pulley. I think he knows that they screwed up. He was trying to tell me that the pulley was the same exact size as the stocker. I told him he better take another look. I even told him to look at the pictures on Vividracing.com, because you can clearly see that the sizes are different. I guess I'll be sitting here wiating for what he has to say tomorrow. But I'll keep everyone posted :? .

it looks like the outer diameter of the perrin is the same as the inner diameter of the stock on.

maybe that couldve been where the screw up was in making it? if there was a measuring problem

It looks like someone didn't read the drawing/blueprint corectly.

As soon as Munch gets the proper pulley installed, I'll order it.
