Default Question about Intake breather hose filter. Please Help

i just bought a injen short ram intake knock off. so everything looks good, im using a K&N filter instead of the supplied foam one. anyways, my question is, i was looking through the breather hose filter and noticed on one end i see white foam and the other end appears to have a black piece of plastic completey sealing up the inside. now this doesnt make sense to me because how could air be vented through there if its all sealed up, has anyone every looked through there little filter? should i drill out the black piece? please help.

Could you be looking at a backflow flapper valve? I think breathers have valves to let crankcase overpressure pulses out, but not let air back in.

no i dont think so, i put a screw driver in there and i seems that one side is all sealed together, it doesent move as if it were a valve. i think im just gonna drill it out.

Have you checked it by blowing and sucking through it? If air flows one way but not the other, it has a flapper, if not then drill it.
I don't have one in mine, I have a K&N Typhoon and have had no problems with contaminated MAF. If it did get contaminated I would worry about too much blow-by and would need a new engine.

just test by blowing and sucking on it.
