Read a lot but don't know what to do !
So i have a 2006 Scion Xb, i wanted to make it a little louder and get some more air into it so i was reading about intake mods. So far all i have done is take off the pipe that runs from the bottom of the air box up to a "snorkel" looking pipe by the headlight. Haven't noticed much sound differnece but then as im reading people are talking about sound baffles and restrictors in the air box and all kinds of stuff. All im asking is for a better explanation of what parts are what, what needs to be removed/modded for a better sound. Im also not looking to get better MPG's, i already get 32 and have no problem getting 29-30. Maybe some pictures would be helpful too. Thanks in advanced.
Agree if anything that will be worse to to do,I know in my moms 99 civic (auto) it was missing the bottom of the air box when she bought it used and when you would floor it would not move just a loud annoying noise.Just get a intake you dont want no lame half ___ bootleg crap man!!
Short Ram Intake will add some significant sucking noise. Exhaust will add some low muffler noise. But remember: 2006 xB's with a modified intake arent CARB legal. Thus, passing smog is not possible.
the k&n typhoon is legal in all states except Arizona, California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington. im sure other brands can be looked at also.
