Yup. The calculator that I use (the one from 1010tire) shows it to be .55 inches bigger circumference and 6.6 revs per miles less. So, I would be going just a tad faster than my speedo says.

Very possible. Salvaging a car when it's stolen is very common for vehicles that are nearly new.

Have you checked your speedo with a g.p.s. to see if its at all accurate?

It could be as simple as ONE WIRE either cut, broken, or not connected that would keep an electronically controlled transmission like ours from shifting into OD, but still have everything else working fine...

The thought of checking the accuracy of the speedo is an EXCELLENT idea - if anyone at any time removed the pointer from the speedo (and/or tach), it could very easily have been put back on slightly wrong (it a PITA to get right).

where can i buy the G.P.S? is that the easiest way to check my speed... my car only drive about 230miles max on a full tank of gas even after i upgrade everything for gas mileage. Do you guy know if there is a device that i can buy to check for the code and fix it myself if it's electrical problem. thanks

There are numerous ways to check for codes - one is to stop by an autoparts store - many will read the code for you for free, assuming there is one displayed. Another way is to grab something like the ScanGauge II that one of our sponsors has available at an excellent price for ScionLife members (search for ScanGauge).

A GPS isn't necessary, just easy. I have no GPS so I just pick a nice straight section of freeway, at night so I don't have to fight as much traffic, and run ten miles at as close to exactly 60 MPH as I can the whole way, using the freeway mile markers. That should take exactly ten minutes - if it doesn't you can figure out your true speed pretty easily (36000 divided by how many seconds it took to go ten miles equals MPH - 36000/570=63.16MPH, for example). If you trust the mile markers are accurate, doing it for just a mile is quicker and easier (3600/seconds=MPH).

230 miles is not THAT bad for distance on a tank - how many gallons do you put in for the fill-up?

I had a '91 Ford Exploder... literally. With a cracked block you'll noticed that the performance is lacking. most of the time you won't knotice it until you get into the higher RPMs. especially if you climb hills (grades). Never assume people are ligit especially if they are selling you a "salvage title" car.

Something to try is, unplug the 'hot' + cable from your battery. If for some reason the ECU is jacked up, sometimes this will correct it, then it does a remap the next you fire it up.

i drive on average freeway commute about 80mph (speedo) and get 280-300miles on a tank, my car is otherwise stock.

Hmm. It looks to me like the furthest you can go on your particular rock is about 50 miles. Comparing 55mph to 75mph, it would take you either 55 or 40 minutes, so you could save 15 minutes on your longest trip (assuming no jams). OK, let's assume you can travel half of that with no jams, or 25 miles. You now save 7.5 minutes. Maybe you're getting a sense of why people talk about the pace of island life being a bit slower.

I have cousins on Kuaii, and they don't seem to complain about the speed limits.

Yeah, There is NO way you can get a xB up to 125. I've also hit 105 on my xB. The speedometer says 125. That does not mean it can get their though. SRT-4's have a 160 MPH speedometer. You cant get there though. C6 Corvettes have a 200 MPH speedometer. They are goverened lower than that, and without the goverener, it probably wouldn't be able to go that fast.
ive seen every bit of 120 and wanted more in my xb and a srt-4 is not governed at all ive seen every bit of 160 burried past it in my friends. what limits a car more is the drag and wind...

120 indicated is not 120 true. According to Scion's specs for the speedometer, 100 true indicates between 103 and 108. In other words, 108 indicated can be as little as 100 true. Scion specs say the true top speed is 103. That could be increased some by downhills, tailwinds, and mods.

this is true, but i've used the portable gps, and ive hit higher than 103 in my xb and i have no modifications to the engine, just 2 inch goldline drop springs and some vinyl stickers but i suppose those will increase areodynamics of my vehicle and boost me 20 mph.

with a cracked block, you lose compression... and in my case the oil mixed into the radiator fluid and became foamy brown... also it spit nasty stuff out the tail pipe. ugh!
