I just got a new shift light, and am having some issues. I'm wondering if anybody has any experience or can help me out.

Well, this is one of those universal shift lights, that plugs up to the cigarette lighter and not the ignition. Well, I wanted to hard wire it, so I have it wired to the ACC circuit. The problem is that it doesn't always activate at consistent RPMs; usually doing something like turning the headlights ON will throw it off, and I will have to reset the shift light activation point. I've tried powering it off the ignition-ecu circuit, but it's even worse there.

A Honda friend of mine has his directly wired to his distributor (it's also a power/pulse unit, he says). But I would have no idea where to start on the xA.

Anybody have any tips/ideas?

 

A shift light that works off an ignition. That just doesn't sound right, for accuracy at least.

 

actuallly it is thats how most o them are wired up is into the igniter

 

Bump. . . and mine is wired to the ACC, and is supposed to be powered off the cig lighter, but i prefer a hardwired approach. . . I was commenting on others that I have seen that are wired to the ignition. BlueBubble, you lost me.
