Default Shifter Assembly

Does anyone make an aftermarket (More heavy duty than talk) Shifter assembly.. That crappy white plastic that holds the cables down broke. And every no and then when I shift into 4th it pops out of the holder. Making it incredibly difficult to shift. This is a huge pain when driving. It first broke when Valet took the car, and tried hot rodding a bit. Then I let my girl friend drive it. I don't really blame them though.. It seems this would be a wear and tear issue.

Right now I have zip ties to keep it in place, and it works better than stock, but It leaves so much play in the shifter, that its seriously annoying. I can't even shift hard if I want to.

Bumping this, as its still an issue. I have zip ties ATM keeping the cables from popping out.

There has to be something wrong with your car causing this. I don't think the cables would pop out that easily. Do you have an OEM shifter or a short shifter? Has anyone messed with the shifter assembly before this issue came up?

The plastic clip. Which the cables snap down into, are broken, meaning the cables themselves easily come out during shifts. I used zip ties to fix the issue. But now my shifter has way too much play. I took it through valet once. And the guy man handled the shifter. I do have a short shifter, but this took nearly 2 years to be a problem. I was just wondering if there was anything aftermarket out there that's not plastic. I don't want to buy a brand new plastic shifter cage, if it's just going to do it again.

You're going to have to replace whatever is broken with OEM spec parts. The only thing you can buy that isn't OEM is the shifter assy; short shifters like the TRD one comes with a whole cage.

I have the B&M one.. Do you have a pic of the TRD one? And is there anywhere else I can get it, so I don't have to pay stealership prices?

Shifter assembly lists for 91.67. MagAuto has it for 67.22 plus S&H.

You could also check Sparks.

I've got a RS type short shifter, brand new sitting in my closet still in the box, I'll let it go for $75 shipped if you're interested, the plastic seems a little thicker than OEM.
